Surprisingly, this little acolade goes to a Speed Hillclimb venue. Gurston down has a nice clean toilet block and good toilets in the Cafe. You can also get a decent hot shower in the toilet block.
I've heard all the excuses for poor sanitary provision from circuits, and none of them stack up. Gurston is subject to all those same reasons and probably a few more that don't apply to other venues, and yet they've managed it. Rockinghams are very good, it's just that you're usually miles away from them when the *ahem* urge takes you. Espeicially if you are a marshal in the infield, its a novel experience taking a pee with a 70000 person audience |

The A1-ring's toilets are spotless.
In UK. Rockingham. Also at Rockingham they manage to achieve a tunnel that doesn't smell like a toilet, unlike Le Mans... |

Hot water. I was at Mallory a couple of weeks back and nearly scolded myself because the hot water was unexpectedly hot!

Hot water at Mallory.....whatever next, paper towels? The circuit may be friendly, but the toilets aren't! |

Spa's are pretty good. You lock the cubicle door behind you and turn around to find plenty of TP and a freshly cleaned seat. On exiting, a very nice lady is stood there with air freshener canister in hand ready to banish those nasty smells left over from the cable laying exercise. And all for a few Euros.

I have not visited all circuits in the UK but from those I have marshalled at you get a different perspective. I should think especially if you are a Lady Marshal.
So as far as marshals are concerned Silverstone must come out on top, closely followed by Brands Hatch who are catching up quickly under new management. However as far as Rockingham is concerned they are well down the league table which is unforgivable for a new circuit. Perhaps thats one reason why there seems to be so few marshals at their meetings. I do not understand just how backward we are when providing basic facilities. |

From my experience with taking my wife and young children with me to races, most tracks in Victoria, Australia fail to provide the most basic (and required by legislation) facilities. We have an 16month old, as well as 7/9ths of number 2, meaning that my wife has to visit the facilities often, but due to the lack of cleanliness, has to wait till after I have finished my race, so that I can look after our daughter, as the toilets are too dirty for my wife to take her when she goes.
We have been to ones that had not been flushed for what seemed like weeks, or did not have running water. Let alone a lack of soap and paper to wipe and dry with. I do not know about the rules in the UK and Europe, but here the tracks supposedly have to provide the same facilities as a shopping center, so they all should have clean toilets and parents rooms, but I will not hold my breath (Actually I have to in some toilets) for this to happen. |

On a related subject, can I shame the Renault Hospitality for their actions at the last Touring Car round at Snett.
They had a mobile toilet in the Paddock, that after the meeting they towed with a van reg R267 COT to the Spectator Area on the inside of the Bomb Hole/Coram Curve. They then stopped the van, jumped out and emptied the contents of their chemical toilets on the grass in the spectator area. Not a pleasant sight or smell, and I feel sorry for the Motorsport Vision staff who no doubt had to clear it up. If that`s Renaults idea of Heath & Hygiene, I`m just glad I`ve never been one of their guests! Last edited by Stephen H; 10 Sep 2004 at 17:13. |

You should've seen Doningtons toilets this weekend... the ones near the main entrance were bad enough on Saturday before the big crowds got there, but you should've seen the Old Hairpin ones on Sunday afternoon...

During my last visit to those toilets, I thought I'd better stop half-way through - otherwise they'd be overflowing.. Nice.

Toilets are so-so, but Oulton Park gets my vote for best showers...a proper old fashioned shower block! That's closely followed by Pembrey - not big but its always lovely and warm in there.
