i AGREE WITH THAT , I did think that though Richard got a raw deal with his prize for winning the championship , as the year before they were giving a way a paid F3000 drive , then when Richard won it , he only got a paid Palmer-Audi drive .

threads always stray abit dont they , i think this one is quite interesting . Shame to hear that Richard Tarling is not racing anymore .

Richard , do you think that you won the championship in the wrong year , i mean , if you had won a free drive in International F3000 and not PALMER AUDI , do you think you would still be racing ????

i rekon i would be. although its impossible to tell. 3 years in the same series does nobody any favours, especially if you win it as you can only go down......

the worst bit was that it was going to be a F3000 drive then all of a sudden it changed to a Full european series and then to a british series with a couple of races abroad. you always could trust the Doctors word!

the only thing i can say that was good, apart from winning the championship, is that it kept me racing for longer than i otherwise would have been able to afford in other series. plus i got alot of good friends out of it.

Richard id like to get your thoughts on just the car, as a training tool. If I recall the 2000 spec cars were similar in lap times to an FRS but are a lot heavier, have more drag etc. I guess an FRS is closer to an F3 and an FPA is closer to an F3000 style car (at least the old ones) Did you feel like it was a proper car to learn in or was it kind of 'outside the ladder'. Also to continue the thought, did you think it was reasonably priced and gave you a good combo of lap times/tracks/competitors etc for the pound? Ignoring all the outside factors of course...

the car in full boost mode is not a beginners car by any stretch of the imagination. it is a very hard car to drive with turbo lag and weight. although in low boost it would be pretty easy to drive.

it was very well priced and nearly all the drivers were very good. we also raced on very good tracks. it wasnt all bad!

Richard Tarling and Richard Lyons were two of the biggest 'victims' of the whole lack of support shown to FPA.

Justin Wilson showed that it worked well. As did Bruce Jouanny.

Still can't quite deny the fact that there's some truth in the allegations that the series was slightly fixed, though...

I really cant see that being true at all . , infact , if i was Richard Tarling i would find that bloody annoying that someone would think that in the first place . I think the budget for Palmer audi was around £125,000 , and to then race your nuts of all year and to then have it said that it was a fix is a bit out of order in my view.

Guys, please don't turn this into another 'I hate FPA' or 'FPA was bent' thread - this is not what it is about - we are here to discuss other aspects of Motorsport, and just because one or two drivers were successful in the series, does not mean we should be moaning. Please keep your posts clean and to the point, we welcome wide discussion, and that can include FPA, but please refrain from the comments that have been floating around about the validity of cars in FPA.

Great to have you back on the board Richard T - good luck with whatever lies ahead.

Hi Richard

Good to hear from you.
Difficult to keep in touch.
If you come over, make sure you come to an F3 race and say hello to me (and Robbie, Bruce, Jesper plus half the FPA mechanics now working in F3)

Richard, have you signed for DoCoMo yet? If so, are they just running a second car for you or are you replacing Cochet?

DoCoMo has expressed a serious interest in me for the rest of the season......They do not plan to run 2 cars from what I know. I hope to know something very soon! It's 90% I will be racing in Formula Nippon next race!
