I think this meeting, as with the Britcar 24 hours needs to be judged not on it's first running, but on it's second or even third. I expect the Birkett relay had a similar start and now look at it!

I'm generally one of the more vocal about undersupported series such as Speed, but this seems to be something genuinely different - a club meeting run for club racers, not as a profit or ego making effort for someone. I genuinely hope it succeeds.

I note Pete's comment about 'tolerant marshals' which is a good point, and that depends on how they are treated. My impression of this event was that it set out with goodwill and a 750MC style of appreciation, quite different from the approach of a number of operations who appear to think they have a right to their meeting as opposed to co-operating with - even encouraging - the marshalling team.

I second that.

A HUGE Thanks to all the Marshals, Officals and helpers, who allowed me to have such a great time in the Montego on Sunday & to the participents in the sweep stake, I told you we would be there at the finish
See you all Mid October!

I wanted to post on this thread to thank everybody at Snetterton for all you did on Sunday and I can do little better than replicate my posting on the Historic Racing Today thread.

I REALLY don't know what to say. Claire and I had to visit another circuit yesterday for a planning meeting for an upcoming event (not 360MRC ) hence the silence from both of us (plus the fact that we were k******d!).
To be honest, Saturday night was not good for us - we thought we were staring into the abyss - that we would be a laughing stock - that nobody in motorsport would ever want to speak to us again. We were seriously concerned that the marshals (God bless you all ) would arrive, see the entry , go home and the MSA Steward would 'pull the permit' We were also seriously concerned that the teams would just pack up and go home and save the petrol!
We couldn't have been more wrong - the support, the loyalty, the friendship, the 'let's make this work' attitude was just overwhelming and I'm not too proud to admit that I had tears in my eyes several times.
It's NOT the 'John and Claire Show' - we've awarded ourselves the OBE which stands for 'Other Bu*g*er's Efforts' I'm not going to name people - there's far too many - except for Peter Rodwell (without his efforts we wouldn't have had the marshalling turnout that we did) and John Hindhaugh (the voice of Radio Le Mans). I'll be honest - we couldn't justify the cost of the broadcast equipment and that man - who gets few enough weekends at home - said to Claire "Don't worry Pet - I'll pop in to support you for an hour or so".....and stayed all day......and that was so typical of everybody involved in this meeting.
We knew we could organise a race meeting - we've done it before - what we made a poor job of was promoting it to the right people in the right way.....and we've learnt a lot the hard way.
The only way we can repay all the loyalty and support is to say a simple but very sincere 'thank you', go forward with 2011 (news of date, place and regulations VERY soon) and 'keep the faith' - we have!
Thank you for keeping faith with us.

Time to stick my 10 pence in....

Thanks to all involved with the 360 race club FIRST meeting this was one not to forget.
As a marshal with his flags waving at the end of the race on fantasy island (Russell in point) I think this was a very positive start for a new club shame about the entry but as we all know you have to start somewhere.
A big thanks from all us marshals for all the positive comments about us. I think the way it was handled from the start with honesty about the situation set us all in the right mindset to give you all our full support.
This was the reason for the le mans flagging after a hard day from all involved it felt like an epic moment in Snettertons History.
Good luck for the future and lets hope the club moves from strength to strength

Ps after 10 years marshaling this finally pushed me in my first post.

IMHO The smaller the organising club the better the event seems to be! Could it be that a true Club Atmosphere is generated. My favourite clubs to marshal for in the UK are the likes 750MC MGCC and LIMC. They just seem to really apreciate us orange (and black) blobs. I wasn't at Snett I was one of 10 track marshals helping to LIMC's sprint at Lydden. Oh! The glamour! I'm looking forward to SEMSEC's Sprint/Race Meeting at Brands next month the day after the HSCC bash (Another top Club!)
