While the question was "Who would make a good new president?". It is good to bear in mind how the FIA works.

Hmm, a successor to Max Mosley? My thoughts -
Sir Stirling Moss - A possibility but he's "old school". Sir Jackie Stewart - same as above. Alain Prost - He's French AND he was a Ferrari driver once! Nigel Mansell? Sid Watkins. Not as daft as it may seem - Sid is a highly respected man in motorsport. Johnny Herbert. The meetings would at least be fun with him in charge! Derek Warwick. Always talked a lot of sense. Gerhard Berger. Ditto Stelios thingy - Can you imagine it - every circuit decorated in orange (the marshals would all have decent sponsored overalls) and the championship being referred to as EasyF1.com |

I'm sure that if the last Silverstone race had been wet, and Senna had come out of the first corner running 5th, we'd all remember the rest of the race.
Martin Brundle would make sense, but I think it would be a more experienced man, and perhaps someone who's been involved in motor racing for years, and not neccessarily in the public eye. |

There was that story in May about Bernie removing himself from the commercial rights ownership and stepping into a new post at the FIA, overseeing F1 and thus relieving Max of that task. With someone else to take the F1 heat, Max could stay on, but with reduced duties. Any further news on that?
http://sport.guardian.co.uk/formulao...487286,00.html Autosport reports these candidates: Robert Darbelnet, president of the American Automobile Association; Jacques Regis, head of the French motorsport Federation; and even Prodive CEO and former BAR team chief, David Richards. |

I think Gerhard Berger would be great. But then I think he would appoint lots of young female interns... |

The magazine F1 Racing this month speculates that Dave Richards might make a tilt at running for FIA President. He definitely has the credentials to make a good fist of it, having run two Formula One teams during his involvement with that sport, as well as running a World Rally Championship team and holding the commercial rights for rally.
Wouldn't be the worst candidate for the job, IMO. |

News Just In: Jerusalem. Friday. With Max Mosley up for re-election as FIA President (and Minardi hate figure) in October, the Michelin Seven have met to nominate their own man for the cushy job, which involves travelling the world and being pious. As David Richards is not interested, they have offered the job to The Son of God - a Mr Jesus. Said an M7 spokesman, 'He is our target for the job, he is quiet and pleasant but with a great presence'. He went on, 'Plus, the ability to feed 5,000 people and turn water into wine at the drop of a hat will make him very useful in running the Paddock Club'. Mr Jesus was unavailable for comment.

Donnington...maybe...but Brands Hatch is too dangerous for the modern Superbike, let alone Formula One...the real question is why Donnington lost the WSBK round from Silverstone, now that's silly. Esp. with the short course, I mean really?! On Topic: Dave Richards? Kevin Kalkoven? Nah just kidding... |
