NASCAR coming to Rockingham is the only way I'd get to see the series in the near future, thats unless I robbed a bank or won the lottery

In reply to Lee Roy's comment as to who would force NASCAR to drop an event from certain tracks that have two dates,

Well, NASCAR owns many of the tracks that they race at, so my idea is not the most realistic, or in the most important terms for NASCAR, profitiable, at leaste in the short term. By dropping a date from certain tracks that have two dates on the calander, NASCAR could possibly spread its fan base over a much greater geographic area. Anybody who thinks that America is the only country where NASCAR could have success is sadly mistaken.

However, like so many other sports in this day in age, NASCAR has become a business. If I seem bitter, I am! I'm tired of NASCAR oriented so much around money. Just look at all the rediculous corporate sposorship around the races. A fictional, yet relevant examply might be; The COCA COLA 600, at LOWES motorspeedway, is presented to you today by COORS BREWING COMPANY. And then on TV, there is the, AUTOTRADER move of the race, the BUD pole winning was..., the STACKER TWO clutch performance, the VIAGRA hard charger award..... And many other shameless plugs for corporate sponsors. It is all getting a bit out of hand in my mind.

At the end of the day the would be sponsors could say NO-so if a sponsor says yes to putting their name to an event/title who's to blame...it certainly isn't NASCAR! Perhaps if you had "Fan of the day" or something backed by a large name might that be different?

NASCAR unawareness outside of motorsport circles in the UK is because it is an American series - you lot should pay more attention to your own motorsport. How many Brits could identify Barry Lee if he was standing in front of them - or Nigel Mansell or Barry Sheene ??? You don't need American stars - they'll just turn it into a circus anyway - not that NASCAR (WWF on wheels) isn't a circus already.

There is only one circus-series, and that's Formula 1

I dunno - as boring as F1 is these days I'd still rather watch one race at the Hungaoring than ten races at Talledega - at least though schumacher doesn't win at talledega every week

That's the only good thing about F-1 though - Michael Schumacher & Ferrari winning everything

Cmon now be fair Rubens did win one race - To be fair though - there are a huge number of people in the states who also wouldn't know Jeff Gordon if he stood in front of them - despite what everyone stateside thinks we aint all nascar fans - I do like seeing em race at Laguna Seca though

Winston Cup isn't racing at Laguna Seca tho - Sears Point and Watkins Glen are the only road courses they race at

I'd love to see 'em race at Laguna though, as well as Road America, Road Atlanta, VIR and Lime Rock.
