Only thing i can come to think of is the Le Mans program. But Le Mans is the way to go if you want to showcase your brand new car . Let's hope Morgan comes too! |

Half the articles that appear on the Le Mans site is of new cars that could be GT cars, but rarely turn out to be.

Autosport today reports that DAMS are wanting to return to Le Mans this year with two LMP2 cars.
They have been in discussions with Oreca, Lola and Zytek regarding chassis. Team owner Jean-Paul Driot said it is too early to talk about details. |

Peugeot have this morning given details of their 2011 car - but clearly are giving nothing away. Their press release reads:
"Having been kept secret in Peugeot Sport's factory in Vélizy, near Paris, the team's new endurance challenger – known under the codename 90X – has been out for its first track test. "Our intention was to take it out onto a track before the end of the year," says Peugeot Sport Director Olivier Quesnel. "I am pleased to report that we have now done that. Even so, there is still a long way to go and a considerable amount of work to be done as we prepare for 2011." The 90X's technical characteristics The 90X complies with the ACO's 2011 regulations, and notably incorporates a shark fin appendix on the engine cover. This new feature is designed to prevent the car from going airborne in the case of a high-speed spin. As it did for the 908 HDi FAP, Peugeot Sport has opted for a closed cockpit, while the car meets the mandatory 900kg weight requirement. "We are still exploring several options with regard to the engine and technology we will use," points out Bruno Famin, the Technical Director of Peugeot Sport. "Work on the engine's development is ongoing. Endurance racing is a proving ground that provides us with an opportunity to showcase all the brand's technologies." |

I think there's another place/thread where the discussion about the car is going on at the moment... the only question about Peugeot in this thread: how many 90X next year at Le Mans? Oreca have an automatic entry because of the Le Mans Series and they have expressed an intention to run the 90X, so alongside the factory cars, it's probably 4 cars again...
...any possibility of a potential fifth Peugeot on the rumour mill? |

But I'm more curious about what Oreca might get, and if Pescarolo will get something!. The Peugeot Petrol might still be in play as a customer engine! (Why Bruno Famine, probably wont say anything engine wise) |

I doubt we will see more than four. But one thought has just occurred to me. Seen as Peugeot are so unsure seemingly about what to run next year. What would the chances be of giving Oreca the engine the works team didn't use? So as to not put all their eggs in one basket? Would that be impossible?
So maybe have the works boys running diesels and the Oreca petrol? Obviously there stands a chance the privateer could beat the factory team but if it was all Peugeot equipment anyway? Just a thought. EDIT: Just read CTD's last sentence! Same thought as me... |

Was it not a Porsche Joest victory? I thought the original chassis was from TWR a few years before but then TWR were starting with Nissan.

Those 2 cars were run by Joest . Daytona outlawed the turbo , leading to the withdrawl of both cars from Daytona where the Andretti's were down to drive one of them .
They were run in Le Mans 95 and 96 by Joest Racing , with Joest contracted drivers . They were basically given to Joest to play around with , as Porsche had nothing to keep Joest busy at the time . The factory took control in 1997 and did some hideous aero work . I reckon Porsche wanted their GT1 to win and not the proto . The correct name for the car is TWR Porsche WSC95 . |
