Before any major hands are shown it’s looking pretty much like an Audi vs AMG battle for now.
Hope to see those Bentleys and Honda break into the fight a little bit in the race |

Well I feel good about it going green flag the whole way at least. The GT3 grid is pretty good still. However we are missing Aston Martin, Lamborghini, and Lexus from the race still. The rest have at least 1. So we got 9 manufacturers in GT3. Hard to predict a winner. Interesting to see qualifying though to see how the lap times compare to IMSA GTLM and GTD.

Before today I would have named Spa my favourite track*. But having just walked round Laguna Seca for the first time...I think I have a new love.
What a place. What a setting. The Corkscrew ... jeez. Rough and ready but oozing history and in places it’s beautiful beyond words. Incredible. * Nothing beats the Nürburgring, but that’s not a circuit in the same sense. |

Audi is ready to race with the Evo-kits on their cars. It's the first race with them since the Bathurst 12 hrs., where they weren't allowed:

16 BOP’d cars with all-pro drivers, perfect weather and only a few cars in the slower class is never going to lead to thrills ‘n’ spills.
It was, however, a great spectacle of high class driving, terrific cars and a fantastic setting. I hope this event thrives. It’s one of the most enjoyable days of motorsport spectating that I have had. |

Agree with the above- Laguna is fantastic and the weather was perfect. In terms of spectator experience and access, you can’t get much better. Very easy to get round too.
However, the race...The first half went surprisingly quickly, probably because I was enjoying the track so much. The second half was a bit more of a struggle, especially once I’d been everywhere multiple times. I counted 16 cars going round in the last couple of hours which began to grate. I managed to survive until the finish but I have no issue in saying that was the worst endurance race I’ve seen in person. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Maybe a handful more lower tier cars would just help add variety and traffic excitement when there is a smaller GT3 field. And even just better luck for a few more of the GT3 runners would have made a different race. That said, I still 100% believe this race has potential to be a classic like Bathurst, and really want to see that happen! I also am envious of those of you there to watch the race in person, ive been near or passed the circuit many times for work but never had a chance to see a race there.Bucket list... |

16 GT3s is definitely too few, no doubt, and this does reduce the spectacle both at the track and on TV.
Rather than more slower cars, I hope the answer is for the rest of the GT3 marques to buy into the IGTC. Imagine the field we just had but with the addition of two Astons, two McLarens, two Lambos and two Lexuses. Swap a couple of the Mercs for another Ferrari and another Honda for good measure. That would be a 24-car field to drool over. |

Ratel said he was expected multiple Hondas and multiple Ferrari’s that didn’t materialise. You’re right of course, but a couple more GT4 I think could help too |

Laguna Seca is wonderful to spectate at. Does he mean not easy to get to? That isn't true either - it's 70 miles from San Jose/San Francisco, just as easy to get to as anywhere else on the IGTC calendar (depending, of course, where you're starting from!). It's certainly easier than Bathurst! Edited to add: I don't think 40 GT3s is a good idea at Laguna Seca. The track is only 2.2 miles long and it's twisty and narrow in parts. 40 cars would be a safety-car fest. I'd much rather see 24-28 all-pro GT3s, 30 tops.
