Well, we'll see, but I am still not convincedit is brake testing.

NOT speaking in relation to that incident, but the concept in general, I don't have anything against a bit of brake testing in slow corners - all part of the game, to my mind. In the middle of fast straights, or corners... well, yes, then it is just nuts.

The sport marshalls of the Grand Prix of Europe have
reached the conclusion that there was reason no to take measures
against Fernando Alonso by the exit of track of David Coulthard.

The commissioners, who have acted of office, like in the collision
between Michael Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya, after to have
interrogated the pilots, to have reviewed the video of the race and
sight the telemetry of the car of Alonso, have occurred by satisfied
and have concluded with the necessity of not taking no action against
the Spanish driver. In the data of the telemetry contributed by the
Renault equipment, it has been possible to verify that Fernando Alonso had braked in the four previous turns in the same site that when the exit of track of David Coulthard took place."

IMO, Alonso was one of the drivers of the day, to get his car to a 4th place points finish was incredible. DC only has himself to blame, he was going way to fast and wouldn't have made the corner had he got past anyway. DC nearly went up the back of FA on a number of occasions, especially into turn 1.

Martin Brundle commented that DC would either get past or go off and he was right.

I think some have been far too quick to criticise a young guy who clearly wanted to compete.

Obviously if that involves dangerous driving its out of order but protecting the racing line and driving defensively to maintain your position ain't no crime.

I bet DC would have done the same to Alonso had it been the other way round!

I think he could well have got past him, but for 'locking up' at crucial turns and getting impatient.

Young blood 1 - Grumpy old man 0!

DC must have known that Alonso was having problems, it had been going on for a few laps.

I think this is a sign of the desperation of DC. I reckon his seat is on the line, and boy does he know it!

DC made more than a few rokie mistakes and they kept him from getting past a guy who almost had a position taken away in one lap by a guy 10+ seconds behind. Alonso had a problem, coulthard had been offpace all weekend and seemed to be trying to slavage something I know who i think is to blame and probably could have made this decision without even seeing what happened (which I have)

He just had to brake early because his brakes were pants.

DC misjudged it, but that wasn't really his fault he was just caught out by chosing to go to the inside at the same time Alonso did.

One of those things, unfortunatly. It was scarey because DC was still on the throttle when Alonso braked. Alonso didn't do it early. Clearly IMHO.

Sometimes incidents like this happen and the is nothing to be outraged by. I was disappointed in DC not getting past before this, but he did nothing wrong. And neither did Alonso. I can't see what all the fuss is about.

erm Alonso said on dutch TV when asked if he brake tested Coulthard " Yeah ," and then sniggered. He also admitted lying to the stewards about having brake problems when Renault came out anmd said he didn't.

You sure L-B? It doesn't sound like Alonso to act like that, in terms of his manner at the interview... Plus, I think he is too intelligent to say things like that if it were true.

Although i felt it could have very well have been a big accident had DC not avoided hitting Fernando, the Renault must have had a problem nearing the end of the race.
Explaining why MS got so close to the back of him so aggressively.

I think alonso-If he really knew he was slowing and having some sort of issue should have let DC past him- no sense in creating a disaster, lucky DC flew off course (where he may have saved in in the run off/ alternate route, so he flew off the track ended his race and career by not being able to pass a Renault and a Newbie.
Shame DC- but at those speeds I couldn't do better, that's why I drive Saloons and club races

Well, I certainly have not heard what was the reasonging for slowing so early, however there better be a darn good one! It could have vrey very easily been similar to JV and Ralf's coming together in the 2001 Australian GP. Thankfully DC managed to not hit the Fernando and was lucky not to roll the car.

Sterwards had telemetry to check his words, it was the only reliable source.

Your quote sounds very strange and stupid of Alonso to deny brake test and than to announce it to the press. I have no points not to believe you but could it be something like wrong translation? I just can't believe F1 driver amy be so stupid.
