Renault has a well thought out plan to promote itself which should be applauded. Furthermore this should encourage more potential backers to become involved with drivers / teams. Commercial companies are only interested in promoting themselves within a professional environment where they can guage the return. Renault has always been good at this. I competed in the Renault 5 Staw Elf Challenge in 1979/80 and Renault went out of their way to help teams obtain support. Marketing Statstics and materials were available as of course was hospitality. In both seasons this helped us to obtain sponsorship and lets face it, this was in a club championship. Look at the trouble they have just gone to celebrating their aniversary and organising the Renault 5 reunion race, tracking down the old drivers, free tickets, Etc Etc.No half measures here.

Has anyone ever dealt with RPM, the organizers of the World Series? If you haven't, and will do anything in the future with them, please, read everything 10 ten times, then have your lawyer read it 10 times and even then, don't believe what you are about to sign, because anyway, they will change on you whatever they wish. It's a very interesting experience to say the least, especially their way of figuring out what YOUR budget will be. No matter how well you make your budget, you will always get billed for more, especially for things you never though you would get billed for (read the contract). One last point, make sure they never meet your sponsors, they are notorious for stealing them in the most sly of ways. Now thanks to Reanult, with the best of intentions, they have been opened new markets to go and feed off of. You have been warned and I am very serious here about what I say.
