Right, I've now tested the lens on my son's 10D body. Same problem. My old 100-300 (which son now has) works fine on my body. So it appears to be the lens. Has anyone any idea of
a) why this would suddenly occur?, and b) can anything be done to put the lens right? |

The answer I got is "It's probably the power diaphragm that's faulty in the lens."

Thanks a lot Gordon - somehow I knew you would be the one to respond! Presumably it's a junker then.....?
The lens was quite an old second hand pre-USM one so although it performed faultlessly for about 14 months, I guess it was on borrowed time. Just picked up another 75-300 USM on Ebay today for a decent price. Why this happens shortly before the annual trip to Le Mans, I've no idea..... |
