Well, it wasn't fear of unneccesary damage that caused d'Aste's cancellation, as they've hired Tanev's services for Macau:

And that's a very stupid rule, imo.

Which one? That cars must be prepared within some rules, or that drivers must be able to complete the lap before it gets dark?

At least he's out there. I can see if there was a maximum amount of entries, and he was outside that max number. But they're not, so they should be able to compete.

Accidents happen, yes, but no organizer should knowingly allow incapable drivers into a world championship event. That is very irresponsible.

Just because they're slow, doesn't mean they're incapable.

At a fast, twisty, accident filled, street circuit like Macau, the less disturbing moments, like drivers being over the 107% rule, the better.
Incapable or not, the Macau-race is the worst place to be for such a driver. |

I can run 100m, too, but the IAAF (or whoever the governing body is) will never let me run in the Olympics 100m, even if I promise not to get in anybody's way, because I am TOO SLOW. Last edited by Asa; 11 Nov 2008 at 07:21. |

For your info, in the 2006 Macau F3 Grand Prix:
Qualifying 1 Marko Asmer 2:13.122 fastest Lei Kit Meng 2:24.360 <- 11 seconds behind. Jo Merszei 2:27.440 <- 14 seconds behind. Qualifying 2 Oliver Jarvis 2:11.696 Lei Kit Meng 2:24.317 <-12.6 seconds behind Jo Merszei 2:24.527 <- 12.8 seconds behind 107% 2:20.914 110% 2:24.865 They qualified because F3 used the 110% rule. They would not have made it if 107% was applied. Anyway anyone who needs to qualify like this, really is just a mobile chicane. Mind you 2007 was not the first year they race in Macau F3. They have been doing it for at least 5 years. |

Apparently both cars took part in the test session today. Does it mean the FIA Bureau have reversed its position, or is it free for anyone to join the test session?

Does anyone know if British Eurosport are showing qualifying, and if so when?

Not a fan of his or of N.Technology but as a Brit I think that is a good session for Thommo.
Can I just say on the RPM Racing guys, that all this seems to do for me is further enhance the image many hold of the WTCC that it is a joke that doesn't seem to stick to rules and regs. Last edited by SEATFreak; 13 Nov 2008 at 11:04. |
