Ian, I would be happy to lapchart for you in the warmth of your little room; BUT............the CoC wants (needs ?) me to be closer to the chequered flag.

Qually usually starts with the cars at 10am, so I'd guess Caterhams at 10:00 and S&S at 10:20, subject to the weather.

mmmm just searched Google images for Pedrazza pro 07.... Think I'd better leave the heater out to save weight.

Here's a few shots of the Pedrazza from the Hodges' website:
http://www.racingbloke.com/RacingBloke/vehicle2.htm It lapped the Brands Indy circuit in 49.5s and Snetterton in 69.0s... I reckon it should manage 45.0-47.0s around Mallory. |

Thoroughly enjoyed watching today's racing. The second Sports and Saloons race was a cracker. I was spectating up at Shaws, so couldn't see what happened on the last lap. Peter Felix was leading, followed by Andy Thompson and Will Hodges (after a demon late-breaking move from Thompson into the hairpin after Hodges stole second from him briefly). Then, all of a sudden, Hodges was in front. What happened to Felix and Thompson at Gerards?
After Steve Hodges won race one, coming through impressively from 19th on the grid, it was a surprise that Will Hodges didn't run away with the second race in the Pedrazza, starting on the front row. He seemed to be tip-toeing through the traffic, whereas Felix and Thompson were thumping their past the slower cars - which was great to watch! Was it just careful driving, or did the Pedrazza have a problem in the second race? The Caterhams were also entertaining, with Jamie Ellwood winning both races from Nick Frost, the first race after he started second from last. Race two was more comfortable for him, as he started on the front row, whereas Frost found it more difficult to make up places early on and never really looked like challenging for the win. The Plum Pudding Meeting gave me a much-needed racing 'fix'- It was surprising to see that most of the spectators seemed to be bike fans. The four-wheeled fans don't know what they're missing! SPORTS AND SALOONS: Race 1 1 Steve Hodges (Pedrazza) 2 Mark Hunt (Seat Cupra) 3 Tim Watson (Ford Fiesta) 4 Andy Thompson (Seat Leon) 5 Peter Felix (Renault Clio) 6 Tony Lees (Morgan Plus 8) SPORTS AND SALOONS: Race 2 1 Will Hodges (Pedrazza) 2 Peter Felix (Renault Clio) 3 Andy Thompson (Seat Leon) 4 Tim Watson (Ford Fiesta) 5 Tony Lees (Morgan Plus 8) 6 Martin Astley (Jaguar D Type) CATERHAMS: Race 1 1 Jamie Ellwood 2 Nick Frost 3 Andrew Russell 4 Tom Overton 5 Gareth Thomas 6 Graeme Smith CATERHAMS: Race 2 1 Jamie Ellwood 2 Nick Frost 3 Tom Overton 4 Andrew Russell 5 Alwynn Morris 6 Tim Jump |

Went myself today and really enjoyed it i was quite taken aback with the amount of spectators it was absoulutley rammed.
I have to disagree with you Timelord about the majority of support being for the bikes i noticed a lot of people left after the second sports and saloons race(incidently was an absoulute cracker). And one final thing nobody other than the marshalls clapped the drivers after the checkerd flag miserable so and so,s it is Christmas. One for the diary next year if the car survives the 2008 calander. Ian |

I went for the first time and intend to go again. I thoroughly enjoyed the mix of bikes and cars - even the weather was ok.

What a great day's racing! I volunteered to lap chart for Ian up in the warmth of the commentary box, as a result of which, my brain hurts.
![]() Lap charting properly is an art, which I am still learning, so I must apologise to Ian for totally losing the plot at one point during the second Saloon race. The leaders were on one lap, the back markers were two laps down and everyone else was somewhere in the middle. I was using three colums of my lap chart simultaneously and I knew from Ian's dancing around in the commentary box that things were hotting up out on the track. Sadly, I was concentrating on writing the right numbers in the correct order and missed most of the action. Still, we got the first six in the right order, which was good. ![]() Can I suggest that next year everyone drives round in first gear in order to make life easier for the lap charters? ![]() Anyway, I had fun and there were some cracking races. Oh, and the highlight of the day? Meeting Adam Ashmore! ![]() |

Nice to meet you too Shiela, sorry the first time I had to get back to the car. We are fairly sure that the problem we had was water in the fuel tank. Although pump and filter are going to be changed anyway.
However I had a great time. Met lots of people, hello all! Got a couple of starts under my belt in a new car. Got covered in mud from one car and tapped by a Clio! ![]() ![]() I didn't see as much bike racing as I would have liked, but it was a well run packed meeting. ![]() |

Best moment of the meeting for me was the grey Anglia fishtailing the whole length of the Stebbe straight in the middle of a bunch of cars without hitting anybody, finally catching it at about the fifth attempt! |

Yes it was a great meeting for car, bike and sidecar fans alike.
The car races were great, lots of close Caterham racing. The Pedrazza in the second race seemed to be taking it easy, but when he slipped to third near the end then woke up and drove past Andy and Peter. The guy with the blue Midget did an amazing job in the second race, keeping all but the Pedrazza behind it for an entire lap then for the rest of the race mixing it with seemingly faster machines. Pity so many people went home before the last set of bike races. although they were nearly run in the dark the still produced great action. Memory of the day has to be the Titch Triumph side car 2 wheeling it down the devils elbow (and any other left hander!) then shutting the throttle to get the other wheel on the ground. The first Side car race was great with the winner only getting there on the last lap (of 6). that was the first time i have been to Mallory for 3-4 years and went around the track seeing what improvements have been made for spectators. THey seem to be doing alot to improve the place. Great to see. All in all a great day of action in all races, great racing good weather. Just what you need in the winter to blow the cobwebs out!! |

Hi ,
The Plum Pudding race was great fun, trying to avoid taking other competitors out, whilst driving a much faster car than the rest of the field concentrated the mind. The Pedrazza developed a Throttle problem in the first race which got much worse in the second race for Will and was intermittent making it quite difficult to drive, moving from half power most of the time to full power on the last lap, allowing the late pass on the Clio. Great never to be repeated fun. Our thanks to all the marshalls and BARC organisation especially Noreen and great spectat.or numbers |

Unless I missed it (don't think so, but only flicked this morn), Autosport and Motoring News (sic) missed the Plum Pudding. I suppose that the only people interested are those there, or is it a case of another seasonal edition printed several weeks before the publication date?
