Surely the best way to regulate F1 is to minimize the 'real estate' area on the steering wheel?
FIA Regulation 1.1 (a): Steering wheels should only serve the purpose of turning the front wheels in order to affect the direction of movement of the vehicle. No doubt the 'buttons' would just appear somewhere else. F1 is currently a metaphor for making something that should be really simple, very complicated. |

That collision between Webber and Kovalainen should make teams to reconsider the introduction of movable aerodynamics. After today, it can be argued that the new rules will not only make the sport artificial, but unnecessarily dangerous too.

I think that is an over-reaction. Closing speeds would still be much lower than in other forms of motorsport and F1 in the pass. Don't let the closing speeds hide the fact that Web and Kov misjudged the situation. You could argue that the more dangerous aspect to motorsport is rubbish motor racing drivers.
Whether it is a gimmick rather than a sport is what bothers me. |

Get with in a second of the car in front and push a button that takes a substantial amount of drag off your car for the purpose of overtaking the car in front. sounds like get behind the car in front and have a ten second turbo boost / rev advantage to pass the car in front - aka Push to Pass. Or am I confused? |
