Having watched MotoGP myself since the early 90's, we are remarkably insulated to death in the top flight of the sport. Dajiro Kato, Shoya Tomizawa and now Marco Simoncelli are it. It certainly hasn't got any easier to deal with in the 8 years since Kato's passing. Tomizawa obviously being in Moto2 was less prominent but no less upsetting.
It's devastating to mentally deal with, and i wonder now how the field will cope at Valencia with the burden. I'm concerned for Colin and Valentino in particular......... the pain for Vale will be immense as he treated Simoncelli like a younger brother. This year will be the worse of his life no doubt now. I would assume 58 will almost certainly be retired as a number. |

It might not be time, but what happened before the collision we all saw on the broadcast? Its like he was hanging off the bike as if he was knocked out already and drifted into the racing line.

He went around the corner and lowsided. If the other guys weren't there to collect him it would just be another day for Marco.

Just read this news...I can't believe it. What an unreal and devastating week in motorsports.
RIP Marco. |

RIP Marco. Such a loss to the series. After the crap year he has already had, this may be the final straw for Valentino especially after his unavoidable involvement in this sad incident with his very good friend.

Marco Simoncelli.
E 'così triste che il prossimo Rossi è stata presa da noi senza mostrare il suo vero potenziale, ma lui era sempre lì. Condoglianze alla sua familly ed amici che non sarÃ* la stessa senza di te. Bella Ciao.

Rip marco. What a horrific way to go. Made worse by the marshals dragging him on a scoop stretcher dropping it no consideration for spinal injuries disgraceful. I know it's serious and all but for f*!€#$ sake.
