Hmmm I might have trouble not seeing the results of the race for 6 days, but it is still nonetheless good news.

Did'nt properly start getting into it until the 'new' GT1 sprint format came in 2010. FIA GT1s highlights package on Chanel 4 is pretty decent though a 4 in teh morning, sure the 'real fans' would just watch it on the live website stream. Though could be good for the 'casual viewer' to stumble upon on 4OD. Same goes for the DTM. |

Be interesting to see how they compare to 'GT1'. Were times really better or are we just looking back through rose tinted glasses. I must admit i prefer the 1 hour sprints i think, i find 3 hours an awkward amount of time, too long to sit sit and watch the whole time, but too short to be able to dip in and out of without missing too much. Think my ideal timeframe would be 1hr30 to 2hr similar to an F1 race. |

Strangely, the 2008 round at Monza is the only FIA GT race I can remember seeing live on ITV4. Sure it wasn't just a one-off?

In 2009 at least, the FIA GT Championship was shown live on Setanta, and then Motors TV when Setanta went bust mid-way through the season. Channel 4 showed highlights early in the morning of GT, GT3 and GT4 races that year, even condensing the 24 hours of Spa into a single 50 minute slot. (Might even have been half an hour actually)

A highlights show for a 60-minute race? That's insane. It's like showing highlights of a rallycross race.
The Spanish folks in a major motorsport forum are very skeptical of the deal, because the channel (like most) use to preempt motorsport for other shows (I think't it's mid-range tennis in this case). |

It's now showing in ITV4's schedules, 5th May 10:30-11:00
Half hour show on Saturday morning, or about 20 mins after ad breaks and pre/post race comments. Not great but better than nothing. |

I'd say so long as it's edited properly its ideal. I for one struggle to sit through full races which aren't live (just not as exciting), so 20 minutes highlights sounds perfect to me.

I'm delighted that DTM highlights will be on ITV 4 . The Twitter feed ITVtouringcars will be confirming DTM coverage through the season

Series record set. Sorted!
Normally the 30 minute programs that ITV4 and Channel 4 produce are quite reasonable for someone with a passing interest in the series, just as long as they dont waste 10 minutes at the start or end hilighting the action from the last round which you have already seen and giving circuit guides etc (Yes, I'm looking at you WSB hilights program). Obviously hard-core fans of DTM may want a bit more! |

I'm trying to keep away from the DTM website or TouringCarTimes etc. incase I see the result. So far so good, and I cannot wait to see the first highlights show!

The race was brilliant, definately much better than before. The highlights seemed a bit short though, having said this, they did have 10 or so minutes of intro for new watchers. I think I will have to watch the full race showing in order to make my mind up, but nonetheless a very good start to the season.

Not bad.
Familiar voices. Good race. Shame about the coverage but that’s the Germans for you. |

Does Andrew Marriott record his commentary again for the DTM highlights? Sounds as though he does, because he's picking up on some quite remarkable stuff, like Andy Priaulx's splitter being knackered seconds after his coming together with DC!

And yet on the first lap he didn't see a car taking to the grass at Surtees, while he was telling us about Gary Paffett's Dad.
If it was re-recorded it ought to be much better than it is. |

Is he? Or is it simply the editing? Would be interesting to hear it live.

Even doing narrative stuff, he's not that good. Didn't he used to report on F1 for World of Sport back in the day?
