I'd love Frosty to get his championship back on track and win it with Owen, but Whincup/Dumbrell have to be the favourites...

Well you can only go on past form.

Whincup usually struggles around this time of year, whereas Lowndes picks up his act. I have a feeling it'll be the other way round this year.

It seems that the house of 8's has a new design in train.. While there is an inherent fog around whether both #1 and #888 will be wearing their alleged new party dresses, what seems sure is that there may be a blue on blue camo kinda design set to be revealed shortly...

Stranger things have happened... And with 888 always having an eye on merchandise sales & rotation of their message, it seems more than likely plausible

Presuming any of this actually happened

Looks like the series will be overrun with special Bathurst liveries then... a pair of 888's, the Nissan '84 look, the DJR Falcon....

So we had one of these flying around the mount a few weeks ago, and I figured they were practising for race weekend instead of the usual F18.

So a certain race team has had a tie up with the armed forces before.........

The wood trailers are packed.
The beers are bought.
The tents are ready.
The Panadol and Berocca are in the glovebox.
Bugger the Harlem Shake, after 17 trips I still get the Bathurst Shake...

Shame, but the right decision I guess.

While its good there is respect for the championship competing cars, a bigger grid will always increase that risk. (and I want a bigger grid dammit!)

It'd be a completely pointless exercise.

They'd run out of spares before qualifying, and have to park them.

Might be a bit early but I am getting in the mood... Just watched Murph's lap of the gods for nostalgia, by god that was an incredible lap.

I just wonder now with how close the times in the category is and how refined the engineering is, whether we will ever again see something as remarkable in context.

Also I wish people would stop talking about "beating" the Lap of the Gods.

It is like any of the classic, memorable Bathurst moments - it was an amazing moment in time. It doesn't matter to me that Lowndes beat the actual time. The actual time itself wasn't that amazing, but the fact that it was nearly 1.1 seconds faster than the next best time, and done in a one-lap shootout was what made it remarkable.

I think it was more possible back in those days for a really talented driver to wring a time out of a car unexpectedly like that.

I think we'd probably cheer a driver who got pole by even one of Murph's splits from the Lap of the Gods... What's more amazing is how much more time there was clearly in it, he mis-shifted, half some slight lockups and was loose more than once!

Anyway bring on the mountain!!!
