Having the AsLMS on the same bill as the WEC is such a no-brainer. Needs sorting out next year. As others have said - everybody wins from it.
Designing a complete fantasy race weekend with timings is one of the more bizarre posts I've seen on here. Good effort! |

If WEC wants to become more than a 'we're the world championship that people will only know of because the Le Mans 24H is our jewel in the crown while the rest of the races are almost invisible' it has to improve substantially and this is one of the issue to deal with. |

Its a fantasy to have a race weekend with 3 major series. Super Formula and Super GT hardly share time as it is now! Its probably off the table to have that take place, as drivers partake in all 3- SGT, SF and WEC. Then the Japanese fans dont get another 2 or 3 weekend to attend a race at Fuji. So by combining all these series into one you get this 'one event a year' that looks big, but limits Fuji's other big racing days. Also limits the fans vacation days. Looking at the scheduling, its already a week after F1, which takes away a lot of attendees. So I will "like this series", theres nothing very wrong with the schedule at Fuji. Instead of picking at little things, use common sense from Fuji and the people's POV.

I sincerely hope there won't be an AsLMS next year - what a waste of everything...
Edit: weekend of 19-20 September has TUSC scheduled a race at CotA, I'm assuming the WEC will be there the same weekend so no place for Fuji (?). |

Driver clashes are a problem but they have clashes with those said series already. This way you could still do all those races (if you had the endurance...) Combining all those four to one weekend would rob you three other Fuji dates yes, but only two of those really matter (nobody cares for AsLMS standalone) and Super GT makes it's standalone 500km visit there anyway on other date. Anyway the placing of the 6h date is bad indeed (closeness to the other world championship series and the typical bad weather at this point of the year) so I'd move it to spring anyway. WEC + ELMS at Silverstone and WEC + TUSC + Conti Challenge at CotA seems to work.

Perhaps, but who's to say they don't like the idea of joining forces with WEC? Quote:

Like I said, it needs a lot of things to turn a race into an event, it just shows that the WEC needs to work harder, how's that for common sense? |

The US is not Japan. Totally different culture. If you dont know their work ethic/routine, maybe read up on it, Coach.
It is a fantasy to combine SGT SF WEC. AsLMS with WEC makes too much sense for AsLMS to do it. Just one of the problems is SF has SGT drivers and WEC drivers. Duval, Lotterer, Nakajima, Rossiter, J P Oliveira, Luizzi, Yamamoto, Caldarelli all drive in either two or all 3 series. So you have drivers doing 6-9 practice sessions, 2 or 3 qualifying sessions and races of 4-10 hours of racing in just a couple or few days. Theyre fit racers, but thats an insane amount of work. Then sharing the paddock space, pit lane, garages etc. The Japanese have dedication so theres plenty who would sit there for 4 days through all of that, but its illogical. Scheduling the weekends events isnt an issue. Youre confusing that with its scheduled date. |

From the numbers I can come up with if it hadn't rained out last year the Fuji race probably would have had comparable attendance to the Suzuka 1000, which is likely the upper limit of what you can expect for a sports car race in Japan.
Combining it with the JAF series is just throwing away overall attendance unless you get F1 numbers and running with AsLMS is just charity for AsLMS because it adds absolutely zero appeal. With where FSW is and Japanese travel culture most of the crowd is probably making a ~2h trip to and from the track on race day so much more than a 6h race isn't going to matter anyways. I'd hardly compare driving a GT, a short spec GT race, and a production car race to having to run the two quickest sports car categories on Earth and a single seater with better corner speeds than a typical current F1 car. |

It's anyone here going to the race? I'm in town now and the weather is perfect. Some light cloud but no signs of rain.
If anyone else is going to the event, hit me up here or on fb (nathanbell.ah) and we can catch up. I'll be getting the 3-day paddock pass when I make my way over there this morning. |

Maybe I should use another word. The scheduled race date may be an issue, but the events during the race weekend aren't. They dont need tons of support races or double events. |

After last year, the fastest time in fp1 was 1:28.438. This year its 1:28.628, only .190 slower. Lets see if they can go to the 27's in fp2.

very strange indeed, and even with that top speed handicap the #14 runs in competitive laptimes. Strange for porsche to use an HD package at fuji. |

Well ... hmmm ... thanks then. No audio either?
I see the new Lotus P1 is the slowest of the P2s .... Can't wait for the combined P1 class next year. |
