Holdsworth's car looks nearly as good as Slade's in 2017.

Erebus have smashed it:
https://www.speedcafe.com/2018/09/09...ivery-tribute/ Underdogs who won the big race last year paying tribute to an underdog with a great story and an awesome livery. Love it. |

Not really into this Heritage stuff.
Has Touring Car racing really got heritage? Any way there is a motor race this weekend so who will do well. The obvious candidates are of course 888 and DJRTP but are there any dark horses? Solid seasons from Kelly Racing and Erebus suggest that they should be a factor but most Teams will rely on solid performances from co-drivers. Will Earl Bamber be another Stanaway type (co-driving anyway) ? Can Tickford approach their competitiveness from Sandown 2017 or will the "testing" continue this weekend. Friday allows limited running for main drivers so set up work will rely a big part on feedback from (some inexperienced) co-drivers. Tickford have one of the more experienced co-driver line ups. WAU often shine at Sandown and a win would not surprise and at least one GRM car could feature. |

Myeh, I like it, teams often pay homage to cars from the past. My son is now aware of the Chickadee Commodore becasue of it. Previously he has learnt about the Francevic Volvo and numerous Nissans from the past.
But whether it serves a purpose in saluting the sports heritage or not, it's certainly a good generator of news and website clicks which has to be a boost for sponsors. And it's more relevant than the Superhero round the NRL were mucking around with... |

This time of year is when the series really comes alive in my view. We now have some events on FTA and they're long-standing, core race meetings with great history behind them.
Sandown and Bathurst are must-see weekends from the couch and generally enjoyed in the Tourer household. Forecast is 80% for showers on Saturday and 30% on Sunday but it's Melbourne and weather-wise anything could happen (& probably will) - the track might look quite fetching under a light dusting of snow! Not really into the whole "who will win" thing but it'll be a surprise if Tickford are as strong as they were last year, even though this circuit does throw up anomalies at times. It's been a crappy year for them but if they do turn it around a bit here, good on them. Otherwise, being an endurance race, pit stops become even more important and I wonder how 888 will go with 2 quick cars - will they have to double stack at some stage? A number of teams likely to stand up and be counted to a greater extent than they have shown for the season thus far - benefits of experienced heads, the different approach to a longer race, sheer good fortune all contribute but the potential Dark Horse for me is #230. With the Davison bros being well-experienced and their family history at Sandown, a well-organised team run by a clever team manager and a car that has shown itself to be quick at times, they might just pull something special together. Anyway, roll on the weekend! |

I'm sure part of why these liveries are more appealing than the regular look is because of all the race numbers on the panels

That Supercheap livery has been butchered by making the logo too large and then trying to squeeze a little 55 in front of it. The original has a much larger number and much smaller 'Supercheap Auto'. Sigh.... the good old days are gone, now get those dang kids off my lawn! |
