I have been to see terry briggs Audi TT - lovely little beastie, got some nice pictures of it in the snow, I'll post some here at some point. Its for sale by the way if you want a potent bit of kit and you have 12 grand spare.
Any more suggestions? and does anybody know how to get in contact with Andy Burton? |

Jon Burn has a Metro 6R4 thats been played with quite a bit. The main change is that he has lenghtend the wheel base by about 7 inches so it is near to the wheel base of an Escort Cosworth.
SS have a look on his website at www.absoluterallying.co.uk |

Yes I think Jon Burns is special, I may be wrong but I don't think any other Metro 6R4 has had a 7 inch piece added to the middle of the car(plenty have been shortened though ).

Speaking of the Dakar, remember the 6R4-based special Ted Toleman took to the desert?

Someone also put a Rover V8 in a 6R4 for club rallying in the UK at one point (ironic, given that the original prototypes used a V6 cut down from the V8....) |

There was a bloke who had a twin engined car. I think it was a Scirocco. This was raced sucessfully for a few years. The rear engine was an Auto and the front engine was a manual

If i remember correctly the Sirroco was driven by Kim Mather, and i believe the rear engine was turbo, front engine normally aspirated.
I saw at at an event i was servicing on, must be at least ten years ago, never heard what happened to it. |

What was marvellous about Kim's creation was he managed to overcome a lot of the problems that the VW factory team, who built a Jetta on the same principles, were never able to solve. That he built it in his own, modest garage from salvaged cars was a triumph. He competed in rallies and the Rally Race Car series (?) with quite some success, not sure what happened to it afterwards. |
