Crash Test should be qualifying in the top 5 on the gridCrash Test should be qualifying in the top 5 on the grid
It's a cracker showcar, gone to a lot of effort, with a welded cage, wheel arches etc. Ok, it's 2mm thick exhaust tubing, but it still looks ok if you don't tap on it! Also, the wheels have trouble clearing the front gaurds, which have seemingly crinkled a bit when some steering lock is applied

I read the Operation blueprint article in AMC today, it's interesting to note, that the Falcon is little changed, but many, many Falcon features are being grafted onto the Commodore. The experts believe that all of these designs/parts were fundamentally superior on the Ford.

So, if the Ford was an inherently superior design, why does the Commodore do most of the winning? Even blind Freddy can see it's only one team doing all the winning. It's blatantly obvious that TEGA have NOT given Holden any advantage over the last few years, simply one team has done everything beter than the others. Take a good hard look at the HRT and then look at the others. HRT does not have a weakness, every other team has at least one.
yeah hrt are doing most of the winning, but in 93 with seton & jones & 95 with bowe & johnson it was also only one team winning & it certainely didnt stop them from penalising all the fords, yet here we have one team hrt dominating for 5yrs and F.A. is done, so to me one team dominating shouldnt cause any reason to not make changes as they have allready set a standard
with holden getting all the ford parts just proves that this category is biased towards holden or maybe the holden execs have all the knee pads

by my reckoning shortening the rear wing wont necicerally give the front more weight, the front will only ever have as much as its wing will allow. taking the rear away takes weight of the back, allowing the rear to move around more

as the AA artical sais 'every time there is a test between the falcon & holden the same results have come up, the falcon has more rear downforce & the holden has more front downforce'. the problem wth the falcon has been the front & not having enough downforce in medium & slow corners causing them to understeer, to reduce this they have had to 'loosen' the rear up which causes the rear tyres to overheat, thats why the majoroity of the time the falcon wasnt competitive over a race distance
after the fords lost half of their front undertray in 95 they have had this problem yet the holdens will still have a 120mm advantage on the undertray how is this still FAIR. the fords will still suffer in the slower corners,

avesco/tega are doing all this work to supposidly even things up technically yet they avoid the largest aspect of the cars being uneven

Easy answer to aero partity - either:
a) no changes to volume production panels - run what ya brung boys (lets see if they can go through the chase flat then!); or
b) allow individual teams to do their own aero add ons (within reason), including changes during the season, with the priviso that the specs must be lodged with AVESCO and freely available to other teams.

Personally, I could go with either option, but with different reasons - a would be entertaining (in a cars sliding around, crashing type of way) and b would be technically interesting (what sort of high downforce set up will HRT come up with this week, and how long will it take for Fred Bloggs Racing to copy it?)

Food for thought

Get rid of the damn wings and splitters and make them run standard bumpers!
If one car has a wing he has an advantage
If every car has a wing there is no advantage.

I think for a lot of people this is AVESCO's / TEGA's last chance - if is another re-run of the last 5 years then a lot of people will switch off permanently.......

I prefer racing cars to look like racing cars so they should have wider wheelarches and deep airdams but I accept that the aero devices should be limited. Whatever they do they should set the rules and then let the teams come up with their best effort; none of this parity cr*p
