And there is Ingo Hoffmann in the picture of the Nürburgring 1978 start, in the March liveried in red, white and bue stripes with Ellus sponsorship... (left side of the picture)

Thanks, Chofar!

Yes, the trio of Marches at The Nurb is Ribeiro center (jesus saves), Cheever on the right and Hoffmann on the left. Giacomelli is just behind Ribeiro. But Ribeiro won his only race that year.
I saw an F3 Matra running 2 or 3 times in France, The F2 is very similar, some may be at the firm's museum in Romorantin.

I forgot to add that Cheever and Hoffman were running (with not much success that year), Mr Ron Dennis cars.

There were several F2 / F3 Matras on display at the Romorantin museum when I went there last year - along with a number of F1s, sports prototypes, concept cars, design studies etc. Well worth a visit.

Never went there, but i saw some cars on display At the defunct Automobile Center in Pantin (Paris). Very impressive and important cars (at least from a french point of view).
What is sad is they stop all automobile activity last year. I wonder if it will affect the museum
Anyway , front row of the Enna race in 1968: Pesca (Matra)left with Courage (Brabham) on the right. The second row is 75 meters back the first to avoid crashes. Rindt (Brabham) the king of F2, will win in front of Courage. Pesca will finish 8th

Nice to know that they are still around, it would be even nicer to see them in the Euro F2 or is now FORCE events.

p.s. jph I used to live 12 miles away from Peterbrough, -all those brickworks and the smell from the Sugar Beet factory! Oh how I miss it!

To the general asking, an other 792 :
D.Warwick, Pau 1979 (rainy)
I'm becoming short of good shots of 792, it will be time to start on another year. Funny thing about the 792 is also the shape of the roll hoop : it seems bigger than many of the day. All in all it makes a mighty machine.

Andrew, you'll be sorry to learn that the brickworks have all been demolished and the sugar beet factory is now a housing estate. 12 miles from Peterborough is just about safe - I live about 15 miles away!

Can't believe we have some people on here who like the 792, a truly awful looking machine IMHO ! That Pau shot of Warwick reminds me of the May 79 Aurora at Mallory when he finished 2nd to Keegan, beating all other F1s, in the rain. He was brilliant that day, beating the elements, and more powerful cars, though I guess the other drivers were a class below him in talent.

Ok, so no more 792.
Back to 1976, Hockenheim championship final. Hans Binder had the fastest B35-BMW that day. He finished 4th behind the Renault squad

At the same race, there was this machine. Very 312-T2-like, IMHO.
Does anyone know what and Who is it ? (if it's too easy, i will be ridiculous...)

Is it a Warsteiner (TOJ)? With perhaps a Finnish driver? I can very vaguely remember it.

But, the trick question is , what is the car lurking around at the rear of the strange device, Is it an ATS , or a Lola or Chevron with ATS sponsorship.
And please someone in the U.K. West Lancs division please deal appropriately with said gentleman who does not like March 792's.

Bryan.

Indeed it's a Toj !
With a certain Keijo (?) Rosberg at the wheel. He finished 5th this time. The car behind is another Chevron, driven by Jochen Mass this time. In the same article (copyright AutoHebdo), there's a Lola T450, but the picture is on 2 pages, so not very much showable. Another tricky question : who drives The Europa Mobel (?) March behind Binder's Chevron on the first pic ?

No 23 March is Kauhsen car of Klaus Ludwig, before he became a tin-top legend.

Great F2 photos, but does anyone have a photograph of the Carlo Giorgio March 742(Jolly Club) which he raced from 1974-79?

That's indeed Klaus Ludwig. I have a few 74 pics, but can't remember of Giorgio's. I'll check later.

By now this is Jochen Mass in Hock '76, with boots off.
That meeting was a huge meeting, with , at least, 2 heats of F2, Formula Vee, DRM, and 2 heats of world 750cc cup for motorbikes. That's what i call value for money.

Thruxton 82?

Heres a link to some photos of the Easter F2 meeting at thruxton, I think it was 82 but am not sure as the pictures where all loose in a box.

F2 Thruxton 81

Here are some from 81, a bit more sure of the year, but could be worng.

Not the best photos, but I was a school boy at the time and only had a Zenith at my disposal.

Chofar,

Please, more 792s! Don't listen to that Dan fella!

Might not have been March's best effort, but it was just about my favourite

I really like your pics, Nordic. There are far superior to mine in the fact that you took them yourself. I never attended F2 races, only F3000 from time to time. But I used a Zenit too in these days. I let the scanner cool for some days and then I'll be back to F2. In the meantime I hope to see some other personal pictures. And What is that Suze car ?
