I wouldn't mind going to see that sprint on the Saturday but a few hours drive each way on Saturday and Monday is a bit much.
Does anybody know if Rik Lee has entered the sprint in Will Gollop's old Bi-Turbo 6R4........he has certainly done the event in previous years?? Those two cars fighting it out will bring back memories. European Rallycross Championship 1992 anybody?? |

Sadly, Ric doesn't appear on the entry list. Agreed, it would have been good to see those cars together again.

Many thanks Queen for your kind words. As I said it's not a decision that I've taken lightly, but after 17 odd years on the bank, amongst other personal reasons, I've decided to take a break for a while.
In the words of Arnie - "I'll be back......." |

Hi Hog
I'll ring you next week. Are you still racing the big van at Mildenhall? The boy blunder and I don't want to miss that. UDB |

Hi peeps.
I'll be there on Monday. Nice to see Pat leaving to the last minute again (cast your minds back to the superfinal this time last year!!) Reckon its gonna be a great days racing. I'm still for Gibson to come out of the weekend ahead in points though. Won't be the same without the infamous Hog on the line though!! Lets hope everyone can get some reliability out of the day and get a full days racing BRING IT ON LYDDEN!! PS. If any one on the forum sees me, say hello. I'll be wearing a turquoise fleece, and be on a geen stripy deck chair with the Mrs!!! More than likely half way down Hairy Hill. |

Apparently Mr.Doran's RS200 was making strange noises from the transmission area, no other details yet.

Pat's clutch blew during the sprint, but he had already set FTD. The car was all fixed on Saturday and ready to go for Monday.

Ok, place your bets... How long before the RS200 gives up tomorrow?
Looking forward to tomorrow - I just hope the weather holds and that we get an accident free day. Good luck all! |

Well done to Dermot for winning the superfinal after a trying day (hope the multi-meter helped!!). Both Will and Pat had problems in the A final , they were first and second at one stage, and Lawrence Gibson came through for a popular win. Big talking point was the unfortunate accident in the modifieds involving Binks and Bellerby. The Vauxhall Nova driver suffered a broken leg and possibly a broken wrist. Get well soon Dave.
Horsley took the stock hatch win in his immaculate Saxo. |

To take a sprint angled side (I missed the RallyX), Pats car was mega fast - doing the 1.75 lap run in 85 seconds... oh and it was wet. BTW did I meet any of you on Saturday - If you dunno who I am I was in the Semi Works (Motorsport News) Suzuki Ignis - no. 81.

Hi, just to let you know Dave has had surgery to 'pin' his leg and his broken wrist was actually a broken arm he will be in hospital for around 5-7 days. The main thing is he is going to be ok.
The rest of us got home about 9.30 and on behalf of all of the team i would just like to thank everybody for all the support and friendlyness that was shown today after the accident, it truly did put a lump in my throat thinking about how people come together at rallyx meetings when something as unfortunate as this happens. As from where we go from here only Dave can answer that, but.... Dave being Dave will only be even more determined to have another go at the crown maybe next year. Just in relation to the accident, if anyone has any form of video footage or photography it would be very useful to us, please pm me if you can supply Once again, many thanks for all the kind support. Best regards; Grunt |

Has Rob Gibson been giving Paul Haigh lessons, in how to fly yellow cars at Lydden on Easter Monday?

Not quite a victory roll.
P.S. Not that the new guy didn`t do a fine job with the commentary, but Easter Monday without Arthur D, just wasn`t the same. |

Great meeting with lots of good close racing but the most important thing is the health of the drivers, glad to hear that Dave will be OK. I guess David Binks was ok too as he didn't leave the circuit, that was a really nasty accident.
Great drives from Turpin and Gibson to take the A final wins, also honourable mentions for Sellar and Mundy, Sellars new car was really impressive and whatever Mundy has done over the winter has worked a treat - that car was flying off the line! Stock hatch was as frantic as ever, Horsley does appear to have the edge though and the Minis provided the usual thrills and spills. The juniors were better than last year too - they were actually racing each other this time! (For what it's worth I thought the commentary was an improvement - he actually appeared to be watching the same race as me) |

Perhaps its the new colour scheme on Mundy's car...bright yellow, that has made all the difference. In fact yellow seems to be the new "in" colour. Arthur Debenham was present at Lydden, clip board in hand, talking to a lot of drivers and spectators.

Also, there was that yellow thing in the sky all day, for which I have the sunburn to prove it.

i would have to agree a great day racing all round, escpecially the bouncing minis at the end. The junior mini cross also produced some very entertaining racing in the finals, one of the most enjoyable races for some time.
Good to hear Binks and Bellerby will be ok, the mini doesnt seem to be having much luck this year so far. The yellow thing in the sky is also causing me a little bit of pain today!! After so much fun it's a long wait uuntil knockhill..... |

Just read that Doran and Gollop will not doo any more British Championship rounds this year. Don't blame Pat as the car is always braking but don't understand Gollop. Pehaps he will do a few European rounds.
That leaves the championship between Carnegie and Gibson. Lawrence Gibson really seems up for it this year and I think he could win as the car is generally very reliable. Good meeting. Where has Mundy found all the power, he was quicker than anybody off the line. Another blown engine for Manning. I wonder if he'll get rid of the Escort and go back to Modified. He must have spent a fortune on engines the last year. |

I think Mundy has upped the power - 700bhp is the magic number if I heard correctly, that car looked to be the quickest away from the grid all day. Great to see him running so well.
If Gollop and Doran don't run again this year the supercar category is going to be a bit light (especially with Mannings unreliability - was that his engine being loaded into Julian Godfreys car at the end of the day?). Doran withdrawing you can understand but for Gollop to give up this early is ridiculous. I hope Manning stays in supercar, when the car is running he's really quick and spectacular to watch. |
