Anyway, back on topic, any indication if the Super 2000 Focus will be used in any national series (my hope being that Ford UK are considering the BTCC..)

From Fords pressconference:
We follow the development of the Super 2000 regulations with interest. We see this highly cost-effective category spreading all over the world and becoming even stronger, becoming the formula for a world championship from next year onwards. There have been some rumours about Ford involvement in WTCC in 2005, but I can only confirm to you today that we are taking a look. Our engineers are developing a prototype touring car – based on the new Focus – that complies with the Super 2000 regulations. Down the road, this could allow our existing customer teams and new teams to compete in high-level touring car racing with affordable budgets and a competitive car. That’s how we can best support the aspirational steps on our motorsport pyramid. As we move into the future, I think you’ll be seeing more examples of Ford leveraging its resources to develop competition cars for customers in a variety of motorsport categories. |
