I once overheard someone say he thought there had been some right old women running some meetings for years.
Regrettably, I can't tell you who that someone was! So far, we've had ladies in racing mentioned - what about the other motorsport disciplines? For instance: Tina Moon and Claire Kendall in Speed events and Annabel Webb, the chief Pits/Start marshal for Superbikes |

Hill climbers include Jan (Mrs Woolley), Trish, another Jan, Marg, Jo, Caron, Pauline and Annie in the Midlands, and then there's Jo, Mary and a couple of Kats at Gurston (In fact they ran with the 'Tarts on the Start' post for some meetings). And I know I've missed someone who will give me a slap next time I see them.

I forgot to mention Annie, one half (actually maybe that should be one third) of recovery 3 at silverstone. Annie has a great way with Daisy (the yellow landy and another part of the trio) and the cars and drivers...no one messes with her!

Is Jenny Birrel still about, I thought she'd quit after the Vauxhall championships stopped.

On a slightly more international level, there are several female team managers in European motorsport. Alessandro Zanardi's wife was one of them.

Reading this again I think the answer to the question might just be "yes"!
Which is remarkable when you stop and think that not too many years ago women weren't even allowed to be marshals. |

Mmmmmmmm
Maybe next time I'll keep my thoughts to myself & then again I probably wont. As you say, it is amazing how many lady officals there are thse days, compared to how few there where when I started all those years ago. Now all I need to do is find one that fancies me!!!!! |

Anyway, as you say, it is amazing how many lady officials there are (and by officials I mean everyone from runners up to Clerks of the Course). Don't you think it's time we started getting more lady drivers to even things up a bit? |

Wooooooaaaaaaah now!
If any drivers read this, they're going to dread stopping at a post with a woman on it! We women are realy a nice bunch, we just mean business, but are equally as approachable as the guys - especially if you're tall dark and handsome! I know there are guys who love having a woman marshal on post with them - they let us get the drivers as they reckon we stand less chance of getting hit if one of them is a bit miffed! Wish the circuits would realise there's a few more women at races nowadays, and give us some loos so we don't have to flag down the course car when we've 'got to go!'
