Kerri - XW - no you both have taken it the wrong way - I was in no way suggesting they run in a non-CAMS meeting (besides - you will NEVER see an AASA event run at Barbagallo whilst the current circuit manager is employed there!)
I am suggesting a non-CAMS series round at a Barbagallo CAMS meeting - there is nothing to stop them doing that. |

Being realistic? Quite easy really - Babrgallo run a summer series each year which is outside of the normal East Coast National Championships (maybe thats what they really should be called). The Night Masters Series - they have used these meetings before to run a Nationals.
Look - not saying they should - but the option is there is they wanted to include WA and the CAMS series isnt going to WA (which - I have to say - I find very surprising given Barbagallo's recent attitude towards anything non-CAMS..hmmm makes me wonder if something has or is about to change over there). Kieran - do you know why no CAMS series? Politics being played again there? |

So even if it was included as a part of the 2006 championship, who is to say they would all turn up anyway. On that I am in know way stating that they wouldn't turn up, just repeating what was said this year. Hey I would love for SC to run a round in each state including Tassie & NZ, being an 8 round championship, how cool would that be Oh and Storyline, I also knew exactly what you meant. |

Thanks for that Kerri. I guess there is always a chance there will be more updates during the year.

Geoff Brown was at Calder Park on the weekend with his AU Falcon, although so was Daryl Coon who was 10 or more seconds ahead in each of the five races. But drivers who have recently been acquiring their CAMS liscence have come along with EB's, EA's, Commodore's, certainly showing that a large proportion of new competitors to Vic motorsport are of the saloon car variety. Should be a big year for the category, thats for sure.

I cant remember, but is it a split category between the new and old models, or have they capped the engines of the AU;s etc, and all are going to battle for the same championship?? And Brett Bowden was there at Calder too, but he wasn't racing. |

All that will be fixed for this weekend as stated before. The AU has reasonable drive out of corners, but Geoff is pretty good at that anyway. No the AU is not capped as there is no reason for it. There is very little difference between the EA and AU in all aspects. i.e. 6 years ago we started 6 seconds slower than they are now & now we have the same knowledge so are able to build cars with the same technology as last years cars, just with newer models. The equipment is the same, just have a new drawing board to work from. I believe over this year and in future years, the AU & VT should become faster as they are developed further, but that is expected as parts are updated and replaced. |

And I totally agree about the AU/VT's going to get faster as the season travells on. So is it a split championship or not? |

I short cut my sentences sorry.
I meant that because of the way Geoffs car was set up on the weekend, Travis should have beaten him, but because he (Travis) is new to SC it will take him time to get up to speed. Geoffs car will be fixed for this weekend at Wakefield, not Travis. No it is definitely not a split championship, as all models are pretty much equal at this stage. But should become faster as the year progresses. Having said that I could be wrong, just basing my comments on previous years of development. Although, Heinrich has the lap record at Wakefield and that was done in 2002, so who knows |

So is it beneficial if an EA/EB or VN/VP wins the championship this year.......

Doesn't matter either way jc, until we have a full grid of AU's and VT's, the idea is for all models to be equal. We don't want the new models running away from the old ones and vice versa.
We will just have to wait and see this weekend wont we. Anyway I'm off at 5am, catch you all next week. |

I hope Mr Evangelou gets a little more speed from his EA... Here he is a bit slower than you may have expected
