QuickSilver should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

I see this as a (slightly) positive development. I'd suggest CVC has to make this work or the GPMA will walk away and then CVC's investment would be worthless. CVC will want to maximize their investment which should translate to quality racing. Bernie stays for continuity.

I'm not saying that Bernie didn't want the same thing, but sometimes a sport needs fresh ideas and fresh opinions. Call me crazy, call me overly optimistic ... but i think this could be better than a fiefdom.

respectfully Adam, I'd say they already do a dam good job running MotoGP (without Bernie). Taking a foray into F1 is a natural extension.

Yes they do and, as I said, they are talking a decent view to it.

Are we letting an irrational (harsh?) hatred of a man get in the way here?

Do we hate him then Adam?

What todays deal does is removes the banks from the equation.

There's now room for manufacturers to buy in too - so everyone wins with no loss of face.

Now while I don't like Bernie...he has been good for F1...just sometimes fresh ideas are needed.

This deal can still be stopped by the FIA. Story: http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?PO_ID=34597

I am interested to know why you do not like him. I am not attempting to engage you in a slanging match by the way! Just interested.

news flash ...

Looks like Bernie selling to CVC may have hit a snag. Turns out the banks (JP Morgan, Lehman Brothers) have right of first refusal on Bayerische Landesbank's 48% stake in F1. The shares must be offered to the banks first, before CVC can purchase them and this could have an effect on what Bernie is up to. More to follow.

Hot news as at 10 am today is that above is a smokescreen apparently as JPMOrgan have now sold too to CVC/BE to take their stake to 86 %
