Is there any chance of a post-WHT 'modified' RF00 for DALY?

Can anybody confirm whether David Coulthard drove the 88 or 89 Van Diemen?

Lee
it was the RF89 in 89, he won the Dunlop Autosport star of tomorrow and the P&O European ferries junior FF1660 championships, id love to say i raced against him but i was just on the same grid a few times! ..... same season Gavin (Wills) won coombe series in an RF89!

You can count me in too . Having made a few of those 1:43rd scale models before , it'll be great to make one of a car I've actually raced myself.
Keep us posted on price etc.

Plans for this year are all still up in the air at the moment! I'll still be with the Avenues team, but doing what exactly I don't know. Money situation means I might not be able to do a full championship but I'm sure I'll be out a couple of times this year.

Keep me informed on an RF90,91,92 model. I'll be interested. Would be willing to advertise them on my website if it helps. Pete

OK, here's the update so far.

I've purchased 2 complete models, infact the exact RF89 (David Coulthard) and RF92 (Jan Magnussen) models on the web site Andrew Kitson kindly informed me about. (Incidentally Andrew, Rob sends his best regards)

They are even better in real life than on the computer screen. I will bring them to the first meeting of the season at Anglesey so that any interested parties can view them.

To give you some idea of who the artist has been commissioned by here are a few names: Frank Williams, Franks wife, Franks son, David Coulthard, Jan Magnussen, Rubens Barrachelo, Pedro Lami, Nigel Mansell.....this list goes on and on and I've not got all night.

He has also done masters for well known model makers. The best known example, I think, is the model of Senna hitching a ride on Mansell's Williams at Silverstone in 1991. It is about to be re-issued in Feb 2006 by Minichamps I think.

Early 90's Rob was commissioned by most of the F3000 grid to produce models for them, so you can pick what ever names you want out of that lot.

His models are truely superb.

I have a meeting tonight with a midlands model maker who will be advising me on the best course of action to take in order to turn these models around. I hope to be able to convince him to be more than an advisor and actually help produce the models for those that want a finished car. Kits will be available, much cheaper, for those that fancy a dabble themselves. Although the type of kit would demand a moderate amount of previous experience.

The models we are currently looking at reproducing are:

Van Diemen RF89 (Have master on loan)
Van Diemen RF90 (Master to be manufactured)
Van Diemen RF91 (Master to be manufactured)
Van Diemen RF92 (Have master on loan)
Swift 92/93/94 (Rob thinks around the 92 model - Master to be completed)

Those of you that know modelling will appreciate the time involved in creating these and as such I would ask for a little patience.......after all where else are you going to go........There are none anywhere, I've searched.

I hope to be in a position to start taking orders early in the season.
I'll keep you all informed.

Cheers
Lee

hi all !

i'm new here... well actually i visit the forum for some weeks now, and feel
its really worth joining ! a lot of class people in here !
some of you might have seen me on or ( often enough ) off track...

regarding the models i am glad that rob is still about !

always being into model cars and on a tight budget, i pestered him long enough in about 93, to sell me 3 kits of my cars at the time ! against his
policy...
thanks again for that !

gladly i never had time to build them yet, as the kits were very rough !
rob did build nearly all the suspension from scratch for each model, so you
basically get a body and 4 wheels !
now over a dozen years on, i feel ready to tackle the kits for a proper result !

it was amazing what rob did in the pre-airbrush, pre ink-jet custom water
decal era ! all with just a brush...

i got a :
- 1989 van diemen
- reynard ff 90 ( long sidepots )
- FVL new body

all in his usual 'close to 1/24 scale !

also all unbuild, so if rob needs any for remaking a mould, i am happy to
supply !

cannot wait to see what his models look like with modern painting techniques !

Carsten,

Rob will not be building the models. I will be commissioning them via IPMS modellers
using the latest techniques. There is still quite a bit of ground work to do here but
I hope too have some modellers prepared to take on the task within the next 6 weeks.

I'll keep everyone posted.

Thanks for your interest and welcome to the forum.

Lee

yep, i thought rob would not build them !

still whoever will do it for you, will use todays technique to do so !

i would like to comission the waterdecal sheets for my 3 models
from whoever wizzard will build all of yours if possible !

logo data files and sizes, plus pics to proof colours could be supplied, so it
would only be a case of setting the print file up and run it...

could you find out if they would be happy to do this for me lee ?

that would be 2 3rds of the job done...

Chaps,

Unbelievably busy atthe moment with my work and NEW job.

I do intend to get back on the case of a suitable model builder to use the moulds I have to make these things.

Please be assured that as soon as I have the time I will find one, I just don't know when that will be yet.

Oh - yes and I am currently moving house as well.....so mega stressed!....Argh!
