They sent you a bill to fix it?
The fence was dented before you hit it. Normally it’s straightened up with a chain, tilt-tray and a sledgehammer. Unlike you and the fence, they saw you coming mate. |

Standard part of the hire contract at Sandown and PI, they bill you for the damage to the fences (not that they fix them properly)

Funnily enough the two other Victorian tracks have concrete walls which don't suffer when hit by errant race cars, but the cars tend to suffer no matter what type of fence they hit

Tratt demolished a section of tyre wall and the armco hit hit was actually the gate to get the transporters into the circiut. On sat night the gate was back filled with dirt and we had to dig our way out of the place after the last race on sunday.
No matter how far back they move the walls, someone always finds them. |

The unfortunate fact is that AFL far outrates V8's statistically, by a very large percentage.

there are very few shows that outrate the v8s through most states. And come finals time there is even less. that delightfull "house" is one of them though |

Isn't there some obligation for TEN to screen the race live? Wouldn't it be in a contract? I can't imagine avesco would just trust TEN to screen it.
So first football steals australian motorsports october long weekend, now they steal sandown? When will Australians come to their senses? Hasn't been a good year so far for avesco. |

Football did not 'steal' the long weekend!!!
AVESCO/V8Supercars ditched the ARDC/Channel 7 Bathurst 1000 and decided to run their own seperate 1000km race at Bathurst, on a seperate weekend (two weeks after the ARDC race in '97, mid-November until 2001, when it went to it's current weekend). Channel 7 pushed on with the long weekend until 1999 when they pulled the pin. In 2000 the long weekend was also the closing of the Olympics, and in 2001 the NRL picked up the date. So how did they steal it RotorFan. TEN probably does have a contract to screen the race live (or in full on the same day anyway, only a couple of races are actually live), but they also have a contract with the AFL to cover all their finals games live, so what do you do? And Sandown has been on the same weekend as the AFL finals for years. Do you honestly think they gave V8Supercars any thought at all when planning their calendar? |

Who did the broadcast last year?
Under an agreement between Ch9 and Ten they alternate showing the AFL Grand Final.
So who did it last year? If it was Ch10 then there is no problem as it will be Ch9's turn this year leaving Ten clear to show Sandown. |

I remember warning you all that the footy would over-rule motorsport ages ago.

Sandown normlly falls on week 2 of the finals where there are only 2 games, played normally on friday night and either saturday afternoon or night.
This year it falls on week 1 of the finals where there are 4 games (friday night, saturday afternoon, saturday night and sunday afternoon) hence the clash. |

Thanks Wrighty05 for confirming that.
The realityis no matter what we the racing public want there are a hell of alot more footy fans and Channel 10 have an obligation to the vast majority. I guess that means we will see a record crowd this year with all the arm chair warriors being forced to make the trek. |

someone on v8central reckons its possible to show both the football and sandown live. all that has to happen is west coast or freo must finish 1,2 5,6 on the ladder to host a game. West Coast have been a form team and made the grand final last year. Also finished on top so i guess its possible, but you cant rely on west coast finishing on top to show both.

So channel ten have shown us how much motorsport REALLY means to them.
Its ok, I am sure TC has a few other networks lined up.. Channel 7 - Had it before, in the same footy deal as the ten mob Channel 9 - Maybe when the big fellah was alive, but with no WWOS, I think its no go Channel 2 - Would be a rip roaring coverage there Channel 0/28 - Not enough topless frog chicks or round balls to be interesting to them .. so we put in on Channel 31.. You Reckon they could handle it? The old Sony Handycam from Cash converters, and a Teac reel to reel tape recorder to take the sound.. YEAH! Go Ch31.. 3.1 times better than ten |
