Bloody hell Chris, you clumsy bugger!
I'm really sad I can't make this one Why can't they schedule it so it's not competing with major national championships ? I'd really like to do TOCATour, Powertour, Mighty Minis AND CSCC on Monday... bugger! |

Ah well, I'm going to collect a replacement door tomorrow, so I should have it fixed
Meeting at the Mini at lunch seems like a great idea - it'll be cool to meet you all. Mighties are first for qualifying (8:30) and first race too (about 1pm) Good to hear some of you'll be at Camp - I was flat out through there on Thursday, lots of tyre squeal - so it should be quite exciting |

Good to see a following for Camp corner, in my opinion - the best corner at Combe now (but only after the demise of the proper Old Paddock).. 38 F3's through there are going to be something elselater in the year.. mind you will have not so slow ones on Monday.
Nick, I knew about the post because a fellow marshal phoned in and cancelled (going to Thruxton instead......) and asked where he would have been. Shall be in the paddock at every opportunity.. seeing as mini's and Midgets are present... I'm so excited that I've just split my Bud!!! |

A brilliant day, particularly watching Chris get faster every lap.
After confidently stating on Thursday that he could go no faster than the 1:36's he'd just done, consistent 1:35's in the race were looking good - he even dipped into the high 1:34's on his last lap! The other races: (in no particular order) MG Midgets - Didn't see much of this, congratulating Chris! Special GTs - Bob Light dominates a great race (as usual) Super Coupe Cup - A good mix - close race Saloons - All classes racing together, better than last time out when Class A raced alone. FF1600 - Wheel to wheel action - I hope the guy that rolled is OK TR Register - Close - but not great. ARP F3 - 30 minutes was a bit long, needed pitstops or something to liven it up a bit. Super Mighty Minis - Close racing, lead frequently changing right down to last corner. All in all, a brilliant day out, spoiled only by the sunburn. I look like a beetroot! |

Woohoo!
What else can I say? We had a very frenetic morning, with long driver briefings and having to push the car around the paddock, because we couldn't start the engine before 8:30 - then we were shoved out onto the track without much warning at all! Practice was good, but I realise now I wasn't pushing all that hard - all that testing on my own led me into thinking that would be a fast time.. The race was superb though! Glued to Andy Croft's bumper for pretty much all the race, got past a couple of people only to do a synchronised spin with Andy at Tower, made it to 18th from 19th on the grid (out of 25) and was eventualy placed 17th after a DQ for Pat Ford.. My eventual fastest lap would have placed me around 14th on the grid if I had done it in qualifying... Phew.. The one thing that really makes Mighty Minis stand out from the rest is the people - they really are a great crowd, and we all have a lot of respect for each other, even when the red mist descends.. ..And we got to meet Mr. Friel Roll on Brands! |
