Forgot to mention, LFS in particular doesn't need a high end PC at all - it runs just fine on my ancient work laptop with 512Mb memory, 2 gig P4and a whopping 32Mb graphics card!

My ancient system before my new one, i managed a whopping 4fps most of the time on lfs.
Now i get over and above 100, so yes, doesn't need alot of power at all. Great fun too! |

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll give it a go. Quite like the look of GT Legends by the way. Any thoughts on that one? LeMans?

Just downloaded LFS alpha demo and won a pro race in the turbo starion/rx7-alike. Accidentaly added seven AI, and the frame rate went a bit squiffy, but great fun and good handling.

[QUOTE=Hammerdown]Just discovered this thread. Thanks to whoever started it on the Sportscar racing section! ... QUOTE]
That'll be me then. Seeing as it was a question about a Le Mans game I thought that a Le Mans section would have been a sensible place to start. Sorry. |

Fine by me, otherwise I probably wouldn't have found this section and discovered LiveForSpeed.
I'll just have to save the LeMans sims for another day. Have fun with your game and sorry for hijacking your thread!! |

Afraid not, PC only, as it's still in development really.
When it will ever reach a "final" version, i have no idea. |

I'd go for rfactor or GTR2. Console games just don't give the realism, with a PC it's the closest thing to reallife you'll find..
If your serious about it, have a look at the http://www.Virtualperformanceparts.com kit for authenticity. There is a couple of versions of LeMans for rFactor, and with the FIA GT mod that's recently been released, setup's some nice GT racing (especially online) |

I will eat my hat if it is in fact released on 30/03/07. March 08 more likely, at this point...

I must say - I did buy the PS2 Le Mans game (second hand!) - and did play it a couple of times, but it certainly does leave a lot to be desired. I know that LM is a few years old - but I think the GT4 option might be far better.

What we need is a custom-designed Le Mans game for the pc. Protos and GTs, with the facility for add-on cars (and circuits) but concentrating on the great race. With the ability to save at any point during the fabled 24 hour run.
Pie in the sky. |

and licensing... hush about that all (most anyway) cars will be in it, but it's not a commercial development, as they won't charge for it. |
