That was 1988., he ran that most of early year in ERC, Spain for instance, before getting rid of the wing and having standard bodwork in France?, then finally painted the car blue like the Bardy 1.6 Astra and Rucrofts Nova too, they were all blue, change of colour with DSRM I think.

I always thought the blue RS200E was a new car, sure it was.

The only genuine RS200 in Justin Smith’ information I can assign with Renny is chassis #68, that was some years later seemingly sold to King Hussein of Jordan. Its original owner was John Carter of DSRM.

I don't know if its a different car or not (did King Hussein have more than one RS200?), but an ex-King Hussein RS200 recently went up for auction:

Now where did I leave my cheque book...

Yep, I remember there were talks about one (or more?) other RS200 for King Hussein already between 1987 and 1992, during the GpB era in RX. IIRC that one was used by Jonathan Palmer too.

PS: According to Justin Smith #187 was driven by King Hussein, Jackie Stewart, Jonathan Palmer and Damon Hill.

Just wonder what chassis no they talk about in the advertisement. 20 RS200s were made to Evo cars and later on another 4, makes a total of 24.

That's only the "official" Evos - some people upgraded their non-Evo models to Evo spec. To further confuse things a few cars have been built from spare tubs and therefore have no official chassis number (and there are duplicates of some chassis numbers - suggesting more parts bin cars). Nothing is ever simple with RS200's!

Despite the fact I think I would last less than 30 seconds in it, I am seriously in love with that ex-Hussein RS200. Just read that it eventually sold at auction for £110K (£123K ish with the fees). Guess I better keep saving...

...they seem to imply that particular car was an original "Evo", as it was the actual car that was used to set the Guinness world record.

Anyway, sorry to wander so far off topic: as you were!

I dont really care about the chassis numbers, that is for those sort of people lol!

Mark did run at Pikes Pe4ak yes, in the Mach One car used also by Stog a few years before that, never seems to run that well though!!

I’m aware of that, I had it about the 24 genuine Evos made by Ford. We used to call every RS200 with 2.1 Evo mill in Rallycross RS200 E2, whoever upgraded it. I know about some of the Bitsas, beside his chassis #12 (the first ever factory Evo) Martin Schanche has build one (his friend from Luxembourg claims Martin had even two Bitsas). And I know names of some people who fiddle about with chassis numbers or trying to write chassis history their own way.

Let me point it out this way: I (and some other RX press colleagues, who followed the ERC during its Group B era) refused to cooperate with a certain mysterious guy who was never keen to play with open cards. But if Justin Smith needs some assistance about the RX history of the RS200 I’m willing to help.

I really like them in white! It only needs those ears... But still: I would prefer Matti's car... But it's a minor difference!

I have never seen Pat's "2nd" RS200, but giving the advance of time in between: what would be difference between his RS200 (before they had to put on the restrictor) and let's say Martin's 1992 car? Or with Mark's 1988 car? Or Pat's 1st car, that I saw first in Belgium 1990 (was that a Gordon Spooner car?)? Martin did use a lot of special bits, but Pat's could benefit of those newer faster spooling turbo's I guess. Did Pat's have ALS, like the Cossie's had at that time? In the Godfrey article in Performance Ford, he mentions that a heavy spec BDT engine is not as reliable as a Cossie engine...

Pat's car I think was rally spec, it was really not that quick early on.

He started taking it seriously and took the car t Scahnche's in about 1990 I think, during the season, he was getting quicker before then, but afterwards the car was very much beter and he won the GP, from then on one of the quickest RS200's.

THe Q8 car I think was heavily developed, Godfrey engine etc.

Who says that Pat has a "2nd" RS200? I think it is still the same car he used already in 1990 and 1991. And on the starting list for the 1990 ERC round at Lydden in October it reads Ford RS200 2143cc while for the starting list of the Dutch round in August 1990 it reads Ford RS200 E2.

Caption by Justin Smith of a recent picture of the Doran RS200:
"Pat Dorans RS200 in 2010 livery, alive and well in Kent, UK. The car in which he won the 1992 French ERC round to become the 1992 ERC runner-up to Will Gollop (MG Metro 6R4 BiTurbo)."

Pat only had the one rallycross RS200 but may well have a road version as well.

I haven't seen any pictures of the Doran RS200 since Birmingham last year. Would love to know if it will ever see competition use again!

Nobody, that's why the "" marks. I mean the one used in the ERC Gp B era and the one used later in the BRC series. I assume it is the same car, altough I've heard a couple of years ago it was sold in order to finance it's 1993 Escort...

It had a new coat of paint and I assume it was mechanically sound when it was shown at Autosport 2010 (a month or so after Mallory):

But I don't think its seen the light of day since? Thats why I was interested in rx-guru saying that Justin Smith had commented on in "recently": I wonder when it was last seen?
