Also received passes today but there was no car pass. I know security will normally let you in but should there have been proper passes?

The ''marshals car park'' is on the outside by Ped Bridge. No cars on the infield. Campsite is outside at Copse. Hence no reason for car passes.

Still no passes here. I'll be arriving Thursday evening all on my own, so I'll be providing the entertainment by attempting to erect the awning all on my own! If you see me struggling bring a beer over, sit back and enjoy.

Just as well I decided to stay in a hotel for this one! Camping on copse runway would have been so much better!

You think?? IMO The site on the outside of copse is great, it's fenced off from Joe Public and you don't have to share the toilets with all and sundry. I know which gets my vote.

It isnt that I think the company is bad cos it aint! Great bunch to have a beer and a laugh with! Just felt they could have put you all in the infield cos its better for the atmosphere!IMHO. Still be around to share a thought and a beer before I head for a comfy bed though . (There are extenuating circumstances as to my not camping, as I assure you I would rather be there than in a hotel anyday!!!!!!!!!)

I think it depends whether you regard other people's parties at 3am as being "bloody annoying" or "atmosphere"

Granted. I know you are refering to the LMES 2005 when the marshals were on Copse runway with the general populus, I know cos I was one of them back then! I too was annoyed with the antics because I had 2 young lads with me who were fairly upset by the whole goings on! From that perspective I can wholly see you point about the outside of Copse for the marshals but as the general public arent allowed in the infield either I couldnt see why us marshals had to be outside too?

Just treated with the same level of distain I suppose!!! Its more likely to be Sillystone deciding they dont want to clear up after 3 days of inhabitants spending heavilly at the concession stalls and over priced diner!

TBH, I prefer the outside campsite, so I guess it's a case of not being able to please everyone all the time. Out there we've got our own toilets (And showers, IIRC?), quiet at night and it's easier to find the other marshals for our socialising.

If the public aren't on the inside, where will they be?

There is no public camping for this event. Quite a lot of folk are going to Whittlebury to camp I think. I'm not aware that any of the GP temporary campsites will be open.

I much prefer the outside of Copse, it feels much safer than being on the infield,we all know that marshal's kit is an easy target as there is often no-one around all day and there you don't get punters wandering around. The toilets are always good and the times I've been there there have been showers.

I don't feel second class at all but as Woolly says you can't please everyone!

There's never any public camping inside the circuit but they are allowed there during the day. The marshals camping on the outside of the circuit usually has a member of security keeping an eye on it, which is not possible on the inside and this weekend the LMES and support race teams have filled the whole paddock, including down the Copse runway, so no room for marshals parking, let alone camping. Aside from that there aren't usually any car passes for Silverstone these days so no need to be surprised.

Agree with the above, except the 207's. They would have been better on the National Circuit, and, personally, they looked c**p. On another point.....The paddock bar said it was staying open until 2245 on Saturday night, so myself and some other tenthers, including Woolley and Stack, were enjoying a drink and a chat when, at 2045, we were told the bar was closing. At this moment more people tried to come in, only to be told that the bar was shut. If it had stayed open there would have been a fair crowd in there. This new catering firm that Silverstone has taken on has to wake up to everybodies needs instead of pleasing itself when it opens. Apart from that, it was a good weekend.

Got a nice thank you from Tom Chilton as he was leaving the curcuit yesterday, he was parked behind me in the paddock diner car park and was very complimentary to the flaggies too! It always makes me feel I'm doing worthwile job when some one says something like that, I pass this on to ALL the marshalls at the event (I was only in Race Control and the Pitlane) Its nice to be appreciated! Job well done guys and gals!

Also thanks to Roy,Maz and all the others in the pitlane for looking after me this weekend. Cheers for all the help and advice! Really looking forward to next year!

Justin.

Great meeting, some awesome cars. those Peugeots were in a league of their own. Agree with Chris re the 207s, boring or what! Worked with 2 great teams at Priory on Friday and Ped Bridge on Sunday. roll on next year!

A great weekend spoilt on two counts. One previously mentioned by ChrisA and the other by having to stay on post for a parade on Saturday night. I know it was only 15 mins (turned out to be nearer 25) but I am a RACE marshal and for the second time this year (DTM "taxi rides" being the other) have been told to stay for no good reason other than to watch a couple of dozen cars trundle round at slow speed under course car control.

(ps nice to meet you at last Woolley!)
