Belly13 should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Looks like the Shephard Celica in Class D has been scratched, while the Osborne Celica probably won't be there either.

Damien White is predicting that qualifying will see sub 2.27's.
Which i believe could possibly be achieved by the TMR, Pro duct, Quinn, Easts and Steve Owen entries.
Oh i forgot Holty's V8 supercar BM as well, LOL.

Content will be the big-screen / on course commentary and pictures. Yours truly plus a cast of thousands in the box for 12 hour sessions and the GT3CC races (and other bits and pieces, probably) with the legendary Grant Boyden's pit exploits as well. Seriously, Boydo is on fire (Literally, as it turned out, in 2008 when he picked up a brake pad that was a bit 'too' hot. To his credit he finished his piece to camera but you could see the pain!) at the 12 hour. He goes up a gear.

So should be a lot of fun. It's an awesome grid so hopefully the racing is good.

Still - the internet is a back-up only. If you are within, say, 200kms of Bathurst that weekend it is mandatory that you attend in person!
Thanks for that information. This is a major step in making the race more accessible to people who can't make it - onwards and upwards!

I've attended all previous 12-hours in this decade, and will likely attend just on Sunday this time around.

How about a shout-out to ten-tenths during the commentary? And don't hesitate in harking back to those glory days of the RX-7 smashing everyone

BTW does anyone know what kind of laptimes they were doing in 1995?

The 1995 12 hour was held at Eastern Creek, so hard to tell what lap times

As far as i'm aware Terry Bosnjak in a Mazda RX7 SP holds the production car record of 2:27.1194 around Bathurst, not sure whether he was using slicks, anyone know?

Thanks Richard, great news. I now feel slightly less cheesed off with no being there (but only slightly)
The camera work and commentary on course last year was brilliant.

Thanks Oldtony. We had a ball last year. I've been fortunate enough to do the on track stuff since the race returned in '07 and I absolutely love it. I see this race a bit like test cricket - you can get a bit more involved and relax a bit as it all unfolds.

I'm tempted to set up an email account or a twitter feed or something for the race to get some online participation... Perhaps do some Q&As during the race.. what do people think? I'll need to run it past the powers that be - but it could be fun...

The FG XR8 Ute to be driven by Andrew Fisher, Ben Dunn & Brad Patton.

From testing last week, Grant Johnson believes his VE SS Ute is a lot quicker than his normal sprint Ute.

You should do it Richard.

I am doing refueling for Shep's BMW's and I have set up a twitter account so I can do some posting during the event.

With Mark doing his blog as well, we could get a fair bit of info out there.

Why is it quicker than his normal sprint ute? Do they comply to a different set of regs than those of the series?

Even when I drive a sprint kart on a sprint kart track I appreciate a bit of run off. Bring on the concrete lined INSANITY!! Will definitely be hanging over the fence for that one, six go up the mountain, how many will come down?

There's a slight concern about the Rotax Max Sprintkarts ability to get out of the Cutting, but Superkarts raced for years at Adelaide and once at Indy so its not foreign terriotory as far as the concrete goes.

But that's the reason for the test, to see what is possible and to see if anything additional might be needed as far as safety goes.

I'll desperately need some photos though

I'm in Newcastle at the moment without both camera and car. No way to get there at the moment - especially on a school day, and I so want to be there (but if I was I'm imagining I'd be providing expert commentary anyway - removing the photo opportunity) - and nothing to shoot with once I'm there. Anyone got a half decent used SLR for sale?

Do want to talk to you about it though Alfs.

Definitely Richard, just like test cricket radio commentary takes questions etc from listeners via as many methods as they can sort out. Why not text messages too? If nothing else it will help fill 12hr of microphone time.

Probably because it's next weekend, not this weekend. But that's a guess.
