Greatest victory of the Falken Porsche
But Beretta ruined the Ferrari race

Congrats Falken, BAR1, Flying Lizards and Rebellion! (and level 5 too)

and congrats to Jan Magnussen, Antonio Garcia, Flying Lizards, Jeroen Bleekemolen, Cooper Macneil, Chris Cumming and Scott Tucker for winning their ALMS championships!

That was a heck of a GT race (at least) to end the ALMS! I only started watching in 2011, but thank you for the memories!

Scott Tucker won the P2 title with a victory and second-place overall finish with Ryan Briscoe and Marino Franchitti in the No. 551 Siemens/Alpina Watches/Ohiya Casino Resort HPD ARX-03b. Briscoe won by 4.722 seconds over David Brabham in the No. 01 Extreme Speed Motorsports Tequila Patron HPD ARX-03b co-driven by Scott Sharp and Anthony Lazzaro. Unofficially, Tucker beat Sharp for the title by 10 points, 173-163.

Second, 1.614 seconds back, was Dirk Muller in the No. 56 Team RLL Crowne Plaza BMW Z4 GTE co-driven by John Edwards and Bill Auberlen. A sixth-place finish for Antonio Garcia and Jan Magnussen in the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6 ZR1 co-driven by Jordan Taylor was good enough the the GT title, winning by six points over Muller (135-129).

Kyle Marcelli took Prototype Challenge presented by Continental Tire in the No. 8 BAR1 Motorsports ORECA FLM09, giving teammate Chris Cumming the unofficial PC title over Mike Guasch by one point (141-140). Congrats to Falken! An amazing win with the hodge-podge car, which should by all logic have been completely outclassed. Great driving, great teamwork, another superstar drive from Nick Tandy too. His factory star continues to rise. Deserving GT champs at Corvette, I'd say. Ferrari again had a super-quick car but suffered from poor driving, particularly Beretta - I'm guessing that's it for him there. Malucelli's bump on the Vette early was silly, but at least he showed serious pace.

Pity the last P1 race on our shores outside of WEC Austin fizzled so early, but another good job by Rebellion so congrats to them. They're excellent supporters of the big cars worldwide.

Farewell, ALMS. It's been a heck of a ride.

Although it's sadly true. Just looked it up in the IMSA code, and there is no requirement to be running or to complete a certain distance to be classified. You need to do 70% to get points and prize money, but you still get to say you "finished" "third" even if you don't manage that.

Maybe your attitude and comments towards creamer and his choice of nutrition were harsh and offensive to others? Besides that I didn't see anything else

Well this is a bitter sweet day.... The last ever ALMS race. Still some good racing at the end in some classes. Congrats to Falken! And I wish Brab's could have gotten to the front in P2 instead of letting the "chief" win.

But it goes out on a bit of a whimper.... watching on a jerky internet looping stream instead of on broadcast TV....

I've been here for every year of the ALMS (plus many more) and we got to see some fantastic stuff over the years and it's very sad to see it end with this "merger".

So here's a toast to hope that sportscar racing survives and gets better. I have my fingers crossed that it will.

And to all the friends we've met from the AmericanLeMansFans.com site, hopefully we'll meet again soon at the races!!

Cheers!!!!

I didn't see the final half of the race but seeing the results it looked like a good one. I'm very impressed with Falken - good bit of racing by them!

Goodbye, ALMS, it's been an amazing ride. Friends have come and gone, tracks have also come and gone. Portland, Sonoma, Miller, Miami, Fort Worth, Charlotte, Adelaide, Silverstone, Jarama, Nurburgring, Trois Rivieres... all great while they lasted. And Road America, Sebring, Mosport, Road Atlanta, Laguna Seca... all great friends we've made over these years, both on and off the track.

Very sad, really.

But we've got an interesting future to look forward to...

ALMS gonna ALMS. BAR1 didn't win the LMPC team championship. CORE did. ALMS didn't take into account the fact that 8Star is ineligible for team points since they aren't a full season entry.

What a way to finish the end of a great era in sportscar. The whole weekend was just great. The rain provided some excellent demonstrations of problem solving and choices for all teams. Very nice tribute(albeit sad) to Sean Edwards after the grid walk. I am also encouraged by lots of new young drivers coming up in the ranks. There were so many battles to keep up with all day , it was hard to keep track of them all.

Something I have never done before that I will now do every year is
walk through the paddock early Saturday morning and watch the teams
prepare the cars and equipment as they roll out for warmup.

Disapointed for Muscle Milk having a mechanical while being a lap up on Rebellion. I thought we were going to be in for a treat all day. Not to be and such is racing.

Its going to be a busy couple of months as teams prepare and test for the new series. January will be here before you know it and the fighting will resume at the 24 hr of Daytona 2014. Can not wait to have all of these
great drivers under one roof on the same weekend.

*stands and applauds*

Well, that is that. Congratulations to Falken. Nick Tandy pedaled that (last-year's) Porsche like nobody's business over the last stint. And a nice drive by Kyle Marcelli in LMPC too.

Nice to see Rebellion on track, sad that Muscle Milk's engine died. I'm a big fan of all three drivers (Luhr, Graf and Dumas).

On the plus side, my daughter was pleased that the "toothy car" got its class win.

Lucky up here in Canada, we had nearly the whole thing on real television (Speed carried coverage 11-noon, then a break for the usual NASCAR silliness, then 2:30-9). For those of you lucky enough to have been there in person, I hope your heads are ok this morning and that everyone has a safe trip home.

RIP ALMS. I am hoping that TUSCC is worth watching, and will give it a go at CTMP/Mosport (one week before the Toronto IndyCar weekend, July's going to be a write off! ).
