Why? Shouldnt everyone be able to voice their opinions? As long as he's not trying to force his opinion on others I dont see anything wrong with hoping news goes a certain way.

Nah you got it wrong m8. I wish good for the TUSC but DSC said there would be bad news and they have to fall on something. And that something I wish is the TUSC and not the WEC.

The bad is confirmed and likely to be announced late next week now - the good could and should be earlier but timing unconfirmed. |

actually also wtcc has some kind of bop with the weight ballast handicap.
Anyway I guess that TC3 formula will be successfull just because of lower costs, a TC1 car price is more than 500.000€. |

Yeah I know WTCC has success ballast + some other balancing methods however the cars still have to conform to regulations, but if this follows GT3 closely it's gonna be another full-on unregulated piece of balancing show from every weekend to the next. Which probably proves sucessfull for that very reason + reduced price gap you mentioned + proposed F1 support bill opportunity

forgive me for the dumb question, but how exactly does bop and all that stuff encourage manufacturers to get involved? and once they're involved, where's the incentive to develop the car?

Because it's easy and effortless.
And they're not there to develop the car (even though the likes of Audi still keep pouring down the money to that department despite knowing it's gonna be bopped again), they're there to have car that looks like one of their street cars to the naked eye and gives manufacturer identity, even if the performances and what's under the hood are all lies. |

Audi do keep spending money, but they keep winning and selling a lot of cars.
You spend the money on making the car more reliable, more robust and easier to drive and it subsequently makes it more appealing to privateer teams and privateer drivers. |

That is excellent commentary. The better the group of cars does, run by different teams and drivers, the better the brand looks, the more sales potentially generated.

Ive yet to see a diesel hybrid be a success. But diesel is semi popular here in America. Usually its heavy duty pickups. Im sure its different in Europe though.

The new era VAG diesel engines uses the Le Mans knowledge to make them more efficient and especially light! The RS5 Diesel concept is a Diesel-Hybrid: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-new...-diesel-driven VW, will soon present a hybrid drivetrain for almost all their cars, starting with the Golf with the GTE - a car designed to do 66Km/L of petrol. Not a diesel, but still with technology learned about Turbocharging and Electric systems used. The XL1 is a Diesel-Hybrid - from this, rumors goes of an Diesel-Hybrid Up! being able to do 91,2Km/L of Diesel. Within a few years, we will really begin to see a leap in technology, much based on the knowledge from Audi's Le Mans program. |

Mind you, diesel-hybrid is something Hino has been promoting heavily. Specifically, the old-school battery Prius hybrid

Skim-read your post CTD, so now I'm starting rumours of a GTE-spec Volkswagen Golf.

The sad thing is that it could theoretically even happen in that class... |
