I'd be interested to know exactly what is going to be done with regards to the COG tests. How will they even it out? Ballast boxes higher up on the roll cage? Or will it simply be an extra weight penalty dished out like any other?

I wonder if the BMW cars might actually benefit from this? Does their engine and gearbox layout mean they have a worse COG than the FWD cars?

nothing to do with fwd or rwd. it's only weight near the engine to even out the COG difference from a normal engine to the boxer engine. It's just the engine centre of gravity. doesnt effect anything else or any other car.

actually they do pretty much the same thing in Australian supercars championship. all the engines have to have the same weight and the same centre of gravity so the lighter engines like the Volvo have to carry weight near the engine in a certain position to make them the same COG as the others.

very much the case by the sounds of it. wonder what team he would join though i feel somewhere such as AMD alongside Ollie Jackson would be perfect given previous Ginetta experience
He's testing with Speedworks so of course that automatically makes AMD the most likely team he'll race with next year!

But there are differences between how the engines are mounted, no? Longitudal vs horizontal?

but that's nothing to do with the centre of gravity difference between a flat four and a normal upright four. they are only talking about the COG diffence in the engine itself, nothing to do with position.

I was basing that off the fact it was only a general test in NGTC machinery and the deal he was looking at was not specifically at speedworks. However there is nothing to say a Japanese racer in a Japanese car such as the speedworks Toyota won't happen

Tony Gilham is tweeting and Facebooking about new cars for next year for 3 drivers. The Avensis's will be retained and used for corporate events. More details to be released this month.

That fits with what was being touted around the paddock at the Brands Finale, though they hadn't decided on what car they'd run. Will be interesting to see what they end up running.

Here are the Team HARD designs from THD earlier this year. Wonder what relevance they still have? Any opinions on them?

From THD website: "Check out a series of new potential looks for Team-HARD. in 2017. The squad is evaluating new car for the season. As part of their selection process they requested THD create a series of concepts to see what the fans wanted. Take a look."

What strikes me as interesting here is the presence of the new Subaru Impreza... I could be very wide of the mark here, but if that car is based on the same platform as the Levorg then the amount of engineering required may be a lot less than the other three.

And potentially mean BMR swapping motor too - the new car due on sale would logically be the one to promote for a car maker...

Well whatever the car they'll be running, the choice has been made! So the'll be at least one new model of car in the grid next year. Let's just see if any if the other teams can nail either of the potential Vauxhall, Renault, Kia & Alfa deals now. The grid could definitely look quite a bit different next year, livery & car wise

What strikes me as interesting is that anyone is taking this seriously.

Time for Thorney to dust of those Range Rover Evoque plans?

What strikes me is how none of those potential cars are able to polish the turd that is the Team Hard livery.

I know it's hard for independent teams when they have a multitude of sponsors to incorporate into a design, but some of the patchwork quilts we've seen of late are true eyesores, and are often so busy that they don't even promote the sponsors all that well!

If they are already collecting them it sounds as if they have purchased existing cars off of another then

More likely to be collecting the remains of a road car that they are going to strip for the shell.

Hmm...On first reading I agreed with ExplodeTheApex and thought of the spare (former BMR) VW CCs at BKR. Does Tony still have a CC (with BTCC bodykit) as his road car?

Now however I'm starting to think it could be something more adventurous.

Exciting time of year, eh?

Just been confirmed on fb that the new cars will be Team Hard built so I would assume they are referring to the first donor car

Well they had originally stated the Toyota's would be stripped to be donor cars, however they are now being used for driving experiences, but they do have 4 Toyota's at least. From what I've heard they are new cars and not existing ones coming from another team.
