They just can't match the performance with works teams. As we saw this weekend at Spa. It's a pity, I like the team.

Let's not write them off yet. All we saw is a public test session for a car very early in its development. We have no idea what the R-ONE has or hasn't got.

this race was a public test session for the R-one.
the car had little testing prior to this weekend, and bringing it home is an achievement itself |

A brilliant day for the team no 12 was ok until the last lap and to run for 6 hours on what was its first real test was a superb achievment

They seemed very comfortable too - pretty much every lap was a consistent 2:10, which suggests it was being treated very much like a test. I know Nick is very confident the car is quick enough to challenge much more than they have before.

The car finished the race ahead of one Porsche. Thats an achievement they can be proud of for their first run of more than a few hours at once.

Getting as much miles under the belt was the target, they will have lots of data to study and will be stronger next time.
The car is a beauty and man it sounds great, can't wait to see it again at Le Mans. |

You know after seeing the #12 again standing on the podium I start to wonder if the drivers start to feel a bit embarrassed for receiving awards race after race just for turning up.
I could see a (bad) sketch about this "Joshua, time to do the dishes... hey what are you doing in here?" "Just a second dad... just looking at your trophies now that mom put them here while she's cleaning. How did you never mention you won all these things?" "Well you know, no need to brag about it too much" "It says you were 1st in LMP1 in 2014 Spa 6 Hours. Doesn't that mean you won the race overall? Wow, you really beat all the big manufacturer cars?" "No we weren't competing against them to get that trophy" "But you've said numerous times you were racing against the factory teams while you were in sportscars?" "No you see, I was racing against them. But in privateer class" "Wasn't LMP2 the privateer class?" "Well yes, but this was different privateer class for privateers called LMP1-L. I think we came overall 7th, 10 laps down, but..." "You were running in LMP1 against LMP1s but were in different class? Why?" "Look it's very complicated Joshua, the main point is that I won. Not the... main race, but the sub class. Now about those dishes..." "How many other teams were there in your class?" "Well none, but that's not the point. Our car was brand new and..." "What does it matter what the car is if you are competing against no-one?" "No son, we weren't competing against no-one, We were competing against the manufacturers." "But didn't you just say you weren't competing against the manufacturers?" "Not in our... our sub class!" "So you would have won the category just by turning up, right?" "Technically yes, but you have to understand we were developing brand n..." "Would you have had the chance to win the race overall if the car had been up to speed?" "Umm no, but..." "So you were you competing against cars you had no chance of challenging, and against no-one in your own sub class?" "... well yes, but our main objective was to be there if something happened for the factory teams and..." "Had something ever happened to the factory cars that enabled you to go for overall victory?" "No, but you see you need to have little faith for..." "What about that sub class, was anyone else going to enter it?" "Well there was one team that was hoping to enter and..." "What is the point of this trophy? What is the point of you being on the podium? Dad?" "... well... you need to take many, eh, variables into consideration. First off, it keeps up the morale of the team and allows..." "Can I do the dishes now?" Last edited by Deleted; 4 May 2014 at 15:25. |

Chiana Rebellion have always been good to this section of the forum and there is a reason that the people here and on RLM have such a high regard for them, i would think that cheap jibes at them is not appreciated by many on here, please therefore refrain form making them.

Without teams like Rebellion you can better close the series down!

Seeing them on the podium because of nothing wasn't impressive. If they insist on keeping LMP1-L at least just axe the need to hand trophies when there is no-one competing against you |

Rebellion themselves have said the whole LMP1-L element is important to them (and by implication their backers). I like to see it perhaps like the old Hillclimb championship that fed Porsche in its formative years - meaningless in retrospect but important at the time.
I suspect Rebellion watches rather like having a trophy or two they can use in their marketing and if this keeps them putting a pair or lovely cars on the grid are we really that worried about a podium ceremony that to some seems meaningless? We'd all love more private LMP1s, and being an inherent optimist I'm sure we'll see some in the coming years if not months, but in the meantime surely we've got better uses of time than carping about Rebellion being the only game in town? |

It is not Rebellion's fault that right now they are the only ones in class.
A win is a win regardless how it comes! |

Cheap shot Chiana - we appreciate the humour with which it was created and I guess the meaning behind it, but I can't say I'm particularly impressed. It just gives those with cause to criticise sportscar racing the chance to do so at the expense of your favourite team.....

I know where you are coming from but if in 12 months time we are in situation where there are still like 3 cars in that "class", I don't think separate trophies need to be awarded every weekend for turning up. Nearly every time I've heard Nicholas Prost interviewed in the last couple of years he's mentioned that the main point would be to able to challenge the factories, not really the sub class. Why so slow
Yes I know it is new but, Last year's rebellion's Lola was only 1.4 seconds off poll with 2:01.482 qualifing. This year was so much slower so I have some questions
What weight was the Lola running in 2013? answer i assume 900kg.( R-ONe is 850kg) What was the power in last years air restricted engine. What is the esimated power in this years fuel flow resticted engine. What is the power in this years nissan 4.5 v8 lmp2 engine. Mark |

You can't really look at Spa as the R-Ones first race, it was really a test carried out in public. Personally I don't really expect any great things from them until later on in the season
They look and sound gorgeous though, such a shame they couldn't get to Silverstone as I would have loved to have seen (and heard) one |

They have indeed one of the best sounds in this field, was standing on the inside of Pouhon at Spa about five metres from the track and man what a noise it was.

Heres their press release from Spa. Good to read the driver reactions even if filtered a little towards the positive. But they can be positive, especially with the distance covered by both cars- 1457km! A majority from the #12 of course.
