Yup, if those 2 regulations alone weren't changed Corvette would have (with a waiver light car) destroyed the field with a GT2 spec Z06.

Oh and another thing, comparing the Vette’s waivers to the BMW’s is pretty disingenuous. The Vette had minor changes made, it wasn’t a wholesale Frankencar with a completely different suspension and engine/trans configuration from the road going version.

Don't get me started on BMW...if anything we should be complaining the most about it not the Corvette (which atleast meets the regulations for chassis, suspension setups and engine/trans locations).

m3 was accepted in GTN spec only in 2009 and 2010. Since 2011 m3 of RLL runs in ACO specs. It was a problem of IMSA that didn't want to update their sedan rules.

It still has nothing in common with the road car other than BMW badge, M3 badge, body and engine, EVERYTHING is different...let's not forget it's GT1 style aero and various other waivers...

find me a GT1/GT2 car that share a lot of things with road counterpart.... the struggle about m3 was the trans-axle, the engine placed in an "extreme free" position and more freedom on suspension. About aero, only the height of rear wing can be mentioned.

BMW don’t make sports cars, they even say so themselves…

Who am I to argue with them.

I'm pretty sure we've gone through this BMW thing over and over again thousands of times already, so let's just summarise it and get it over with: it is the most illegal car ACO has ever let to complete in any of their series, it has nothing to do with the "road" car or in fact sportscars, it doesn't belong to this kind of racing and on top of that it was strongly favoured by BoP between 2009-2011 despite them winning all the time, making it one of the most hated GT entrants of all time (by those who know their motor racing)

// end of discussion

last year the m3 in ALMS received a shorter restrictor after lime rock race.
You're right, the m3 gt2 was maybe the most hated gt car with the mc12, but all this hate also borns from a lot of ignorance.

True but it took a loong time for them to get that off (plus it was just a 0,4mm decrease anyway). And at Le Mans and ILMC ACO did nothing

The only time something actually was done was after Spa 2010 when the Bimmers accidentally run too fast and got penalised by BoP for LM. But that's also been discussed thousands of times

because schnitzer/BMW motorsport never dominated the competition as RLL did in ALMS.

Umm yes they did (or rather should've), it's just that the RLL was/is the better of two teams and didn't screw up victories so easily.

the m3 gt2 (ACO specs) of schnitzer in 2011 scored the pole position at le mans, silverstone, imola and zhuhai (i didnt consider sebring and road atlanta races because RLL was running), the car was performant, this can't be denied. But can't be denied the fact that the #51 458 of af corse had a better pace in almost all ILMC races.

Schnitzer had alot of tire problems at Le Mans with punctures and in the other rounds with tire wear issues with all the high speed corners.

Still sitting in the same place at TTE, no official or unofficial announcement was ever actually made about it.

On reflection we should probably have asked about that LFA when we were with Toyota at LM.

Pascal Vasselon said a couple months ago it was "on the backburner".

There's no hyphen (-) in the name. It's just LFA. The hyphen was only on the prototype shown years ago. I want to see this, but have lessened my hope it will appear with Toyota concentrating on LMP1 and Pascal Vasselon's comments.

here's a nice large picture of it

It fits the capacity regulations as they are iirc (the 5.5L regs, not the 8.0L Viper regs...) but like the Viper has 2 many cylinders.
