Mark, whats your take on all this. Seeing as Jimmy Stones' son was working on Shanes car a few weeks ago, it appears to me that half of the Stone Brothers is fine with SVG's decision.

Probably a pointless exercise that will just make enemies, make lawyers rich, and achieve nothing.
Why?
Why have contracts then?

I doubt they want him driving - that is not the point.

Im sure during the sale of SBR all current contracts, drivers, sponsors, etc. were considered.
Shane was the player that threw a spanner in the works, he should be made to honour the resultant agreements.

To let it go, gives precedence and that could get out of hand quickly.

I'm off to the track now, might be lucky enough to run into Shane as I head to the DJR garage to show some support to the team

Matt Stone is an adult and team owner in his own right, so I am not sure you can draw the bow that half the Stone Brothers is OK with it, just because Matt Stone spannered on a car.

I have said before that, the real truth will probably never be known, I also very much doubt that there will be any legal action taken over Shane's alleged breach of contract, let alone injunctive action. Ross just needs to let it go, and move on.

Either way, I can’t work out why Erebus are letting this roll.... I can’t see that they’ve got a lot to gain from stopping him (other than the principle of the matter... ), yet they’ve got all the positive publicity around their new Mercs go to waste... from what I can tell, all of the major news outlets have more coverage of Erebus v SVG than the fact that they a new team with flash new cars...... odd.

FWIW my guess... We won’t see any legal action, both Tekno cars will be quicker than the Mercs (one of which will be in the back 3 rows) and there’ll be at least one reminder in the press about SBR/Erebus not pursuing SVG.

Roll on tomorrow aye?

AS far as I'm aware, contract law hasn't changed and it's pretty similar both sides of the ditch.
For a contract to be valid there must be some form of consideration. Has there been any, from either party?
Was a change of team ownership, or change of weaponry, a part of the contract?
Restraint of trade agreements are complicated and, whilst they might be commonplace, they are seldom enforcable. And they cannot prevent a person plying their trade.
There was clearly something afoot which spooked SVG into walking away from the newly agreed arrangement.
I'd bet that the team are every bit as culpable as young Shane.
I'm with Mark. The truth may never surface and this is just bluster from people with the money to bully people around.
It is SBR who ought be held to account for bringing the sport into disrepute.
Those who would call SVG names, without knowing any of the detail, as is happening here are more guilty of pathetic childish behaviour than the young fella they deride.

he has not yet driven for another team.

So it wont really be until he has done P1 that he has broken the contract technically the way I see it.

If something will happen or not I have no idea.?

Release may have been worded to only exclude him from actually competing (i.e. qualifying and racing).

And as to why they would want to pursue it,

probably because they know SVG will out qualify them
and beat them in the races, lol.

May get them one car further up the field.

How is your loved J Dub getting on ? Walking out on contacts must be part of V8SC. Must make new sponsors think twice.
P1 should be a cracker, on and off the track.

I just hope Shane's new team can count how many laps the co driver has done, and know what tyres to put on the car oh and remember to fuel the car.

Take a minute to think. Sign up your young star driver, and then get all your sponsors back on board for the up coming season, then sell up. Smart business.

I wonder if he went from ford to ford he would be getting all this silly school yard rubbish. Or if he was an Aussie?

Can hardly see where enforcing an agreement you made after releasing someone from a 3 year contract they signed willingly is "school yard rubbish".

Not that I particularly want Shane on gardening leave, but my personal opinion is that is what he deserves out of all this.
