The problem lies wholey with V8SC Australia. THe ICC World Cup has been in place for sometime, the 12Hr has been locked in, then V8SC's says oh by the way, it is now compulsory for drivers to attend the whole weekend.

So when one commercial organisation decides to change, considering the Cricket World Cup has been planned, at this late stage , is just this organisation wanting to bake the cake and eat it.

CAMS should not intefere, they should only act as a mediator.

I think there is lot more interest in the 12 Hr, and that might hurt V8SC's.
Problem belong to them.

Also word has it that a lot of volunteers are liking the 12 Hr to Oct meeting.
I agree with the bit that CAMS is in a no-win situation. It really can't interfere with the scheduling unless it creates a regulatory conflict.

ie: For international events, you can't run a national event in the same region at the same time. The ATCC ran into this problem in 1996 when they scheduled the opening around at Eastern Creek the same day there was an international karting event at Oran Park. Because the karts were an FIA event - technically the ATCC was not permitted to run. Apparently Shell put in some cash and C7 offered some TV ads promoting the karts and all was good.

But in this case, the V8s is a private test day, not an competitive event. So therefore, it's actually of no concern to CAMS whatsoever other than from a safety standpoint. They actually have absolutely no mandate to be involved given it is not a competition fixture.

But they should - and reading between the lines, it sounds like they are - strongly encouraging V8s not to go ahead with the revised testing date.

Gilbertson E36 M3 will be sporting full Penrite Oils signage for next year. Hopefully some of the other smaller teams receive sponsorship with the new TV deal.

No, not confirmed however to post on your Facebook page that this is what our car may possibly look like next year then there's every chance
Whether the car actually looks exactly like that isn't overly important, however the Penrite sponsorship is what counts.
Looks okay.

Turn up with three of anything and they'll make a class for you.

And judging by the language in that Kia article, motorsport is about the last thing on their to do list.

The SMH reporting that the likes of CL, SVG and RK are organising contingency plans via light plane in case of a scheduling clash.

Bathurst is a sub 2 hour drive from Eastern Creek, while making it back to Mascot or Bankstown airports and flying to Bathurst by plane would take about as long. Perhaps Mr Morris' helicopter could be put into action.

None of this works if the V8SC plan for a 2 day test comes to fruition...

May well be right as "air transport" is the term they have used.

Thanks

Not too dissimilar to when Le Mans clashed with DTM or the Nurburgring 24hrs and drivers who were needed at both places jumped into a plane or a chopper to try and juggle two races at once.

So if Lowndes is to come back to the 12hr next year... Will he be at Maranello or with his upcoming drive with AF Corse at Spa, could we see Lowndes possibly driving for them if they were to return to the Mountain?

I'd say Lowndes would stick with a winning team. He seems to enjoy it at MM with Bowe Salo and Edwards

Only 3 drivers next year, so that combo wont be happening.

Does any know if the 3 drivers have to qualify?

From memory Rick Kelly has a helicopter licence

Shall be very interesting to see what MM do with the driver selection. Bowe is classed as a non seeded driver using last years regulations - would MM go in with only 1 seeded up against the might of Erebus, Audi's, Nissan, Clearwater etc

Is Edwards, Salo and Lowdnes a possibility with Bowe at AF Corse or vice versa.

I think JB might miss out, but shouldn't have a problem getting another decent drive.

would reckon that many teams would be happy to have him as their 3rd driver

Wonder if he gets along with Betty
