Eurosport won't be showing this weekend's second race live. Repeats of cycling and tennis are more important.

Recap of the weekend:
Hurr, durr, I'm Tom Gaymor. lol, Chilton. Wow, Michigami! Doubled his points tally to a whopping two! (And he only did that through a bit of attrition.) |

As an aside, look up the one the TCR Int series are racing at too. That's a bit odd. Nice to see plenty of new tracks in China. |

What stupid penaltys are assigned to the WTCC this year. At first, Huff was hardly deserved, recently to someone else, it seems Bennani, and now in general for nothing 5 seconds for Chilton. There was no contact between him and Erlacher at all, there were not even any marks on the Lada ... It's so stupid.

Anyone else struggling to stay interested in WTCC this year? Really lacklustre so far.
I was skeptical about TCR at first but TCR has had some brilliant racing this year, whereas WTCC seems to a snoozefest So much so they felt the need to create artificial overtakes with than silly joke lap idea in Portugal. The DTM has been dull too except the first race of Hockenheim and the second race at Norisring |

The pit lane exits under the start straight onto the outside of T2/inside of T3. In races with pit stops there could easily be crashes there. Better off exiting on outside of T1 like a normal circuit.

It's building nicely to some politics and argy bargy between two manufacturer teams for the last couple of rounds, provided that both Honda and Polestar have drivers in contention until the last race.

Standings after Argentina:
1. POR Tiago Monteiro (Honda), 200 2. SWE Thed Björk (Volvo), 188 3. HUN Norbert Michelisz (Honda), 171 4. MOR Mehdi Bennani (SLR Citroën), 164 5. NED Nick Catsburg (Volvo), 159 6. GBR Tom Chilton (SLR Citroën), 147 7. GBR Robert Huff (Münnich Citroën), 135 8. ARG Esteban Guerrieri (Campos Chevrolet), 113 9. ARG Néstor Girolami (Volvo), 69 10. FRA Yann Ehrlache (RC Lada), 45 11. NED Tom Coronel (ROAL Chevrolet), 34 12. FRA John Filippi (SLR Citroën), 15 With just 16 drivers, the WTCC must change rules for 2019. I see two options: go cheap (TCR), or go big (like DTM-WTCC merger or something). |

It's difficult to think that WTCC with Ribeiro will choose the TCR concept and if they do, what should happen to the TCR International? Maybe Eurosport should focus on the ETCC with TCR cars and try to elevate it to championship status again They're doing well this year with the European Rally championship with young drivers, they could do something similar with the ETCC. But this is just my opinion |

In some good news for WTCC Macau confirmed https://www.touringcartimes.com/2017...onfirmed-wtcc/
Not great for a championship (let alone world champ) when good news is a race being on |

8 laps. There hasn't been a Guia Race that short since the first time S2000 cars raced at the event. And this is supposed to be a professional World Championship? |

No, probably not. But I'm fed up with seeing piddly little 20 minute races in touring cars.

Since they introduced the new formula the racing has gone downhill, they are too aero dependent. I'd love for them to introduce TCR, then we'd see better racing and hopefully more interest from drivers and fans alike. Come on FIA, you know it makes sense

The WTCC should have a 40 minute feature race, like Argentine championships.

I think that the current format is the best it could be with reversed grid based on quali. They have had to find this though as the racing is poor since TC1. |

The main problem is lack of TC1 cars and costs for private teams.
Aero doesn't cause that much problem, there were quite a lot of very good races during the last 4 years, and action really depends on competition. TC1 has made the cars faster but not that much attractive as DTM cars, but taken the costs very high - so actually with this set of rules puts WTCC is in the middle of nowhere - expensive cars but not so fast and attractive. Which has become worse due to Citroen and Lada withdrawal and no interest from other makes. Although I still believe that with more competiton and more factory teams (with no such Citroen domination) this concept would work very well. Plus, it seems that touring car racing is not attractive for manufacturers themselves (not speaking about customer programs) - there is Formula E, WEC. |

I also think they need more variety of cars, when you only have 3 or 4 it's not enough. That's why the BTCC has always been more exciting, the variety in that series.
