So where are all the officials coming from that will have to back up with limit sleep? Especially as many Saturday racers this year became flaggies on Sunday.

Awesome!!! So you could get trashed on Friday night, sober up a bit, watch the race, get trashed again after the race and wake up on the hill with your mates in time for the support categories!!!

Do they let you camp on the hill at the 1000?

I reckon they should go the other way, start the race at midnight on saturday and run it through to midday on sunday. On the saturday night you could try to get a 'party' atmosphere going leading up to the start of the race, and it would even allow some twilight support races

That'd be awesome from a spectators point of view but what about the officials. You'd almost need 3 full shifts, Saturday 7am-5pm, 5pm-3am and 3am-1pm on Sunday.

You would just have to adjust the program abit. ie.. not have a full day of racing on the Saturday, or use the system they had in place for the 24hr perhaps when it came to officiating?

No campers were allowed on top of The Hill for the recent B12hr, Racer69.
Camping behind/in the Pits were the only options, apparently.

In the lead up to the 24hr start on the Saturday they ran the 2hr Showroom showdown, as well as V8Brute races

I can't speak for the officiating system used, but there was obviously some setup to cater for almost constant on track action for 30-odd hours

A few competitors and crew that I have spoken to would like to see 10am to 10pm. It still gives the night racing but doesnt make it as late when you have to pack everything up and get cars back from parc ferme. Then you could also have a bit of a party after the finish.

Agreed, a midnight finish is too late. A 10 pm finish will at least give them some genuine night running but allow the race to finish at a reasonable hour.

I wonder if they would do the podium that late? Would be interesting to see how many people turn up for it.

I went to the Race of a Thousand Years in Adelaide which finished at midnight and they did the podium presentation straight after the race. Mind you, that was a bit different as it was New Years Eve. They then held a couple of concerts after the race.

I'd have to say though I think a midnight finish for the 12 hour is too late, a 10pm finish would be better. Then a concert and party after

Judging by the original post, why would it have been Sunday?

Great to see the footage from the event.

I thought the coverage wasn't bad but only if and that's huge in motor sport the Mazda 3 MPS had a healthy day it would have finished in the top ten...oh well next year....that's motor racing.

and did I do something wrong as I think I spelt it out quite clearly.

Any word on a price ceiling increase for next year?

Seems the Evo's are pretty dominant at the moment.

Also, with Mazda building an RX-8SP for targa, what would they have to do to get that car on the eligibility list? Back in the early days they just had to buld 25 cars I think............................
