They are, but that's by choice, not by regulations.

Too add to Matt's response, the Nissan V8 (IIRC it is very similar or actually is the VK45) was chosen by JAF as a readily available engine that would perform with few/no issues so the MC teams could focus on other aspects of the car's performance. Other engines are available, but the Nissan block does a good enough job for the mother chassis teams so far.

I am fairly certain the standard engine actually ended up being required.

New livery of #38 ZENT Cerumo RC F, with more yellow stripes everywhere & bit different pattern than last year.
http://www.as-web.jp/supergt/3578 Besides that, there's also livery of #39 Denso Kobelco SARD RC F for this year, with some minor changes on the livery compared to last year. http://www.as-web.jp/supergt/3296 |

Guys, here are some pictures during teams' preparation for testing at Okayama. http://www.as-web.jp/supergt/3934
Firstly, I want to highlight this car from the gallery For #36 TOM'S, currently they run the car with black-white livery without title sponsor. |

Result of Day 1 Super GT test @ Okayama :
http://www.as-web.jp/supergt/4387 So far, from GT500, only #6 WAKO'S 4CR RC F (Team LeMans) broke the previous record by 1'18"877, versus 1'19.008 (from qualifying), and also topped the record today. Meanwhile from GT300, #31 Toyota Prius topped the result with 1'27"521, still slower than last year qualifying (#10 Gainer Tanax GT-R with 1'26.532). Those records are in dry condition. |

But (#7) Team Studie M6 GT3 still in the list even the gearbox and brake rotors for M6 GT3 haven't arrived yet. But the changes of entry list is they remove Audi Team Braille in the entry list just now.
By the way , why they don't cancel the participation for Fuji official test at this Saturday , and they focused on Okayama race day which is 9 April ??? Anyone have idea???? http://supergt.net/upload/160323fuji_testentry.pdf Last edited by AkioAsakura95; 23 Mar 2016 at 08:42. |

@AkioAsakura95
Look, if their replacement parts for M6 GT3 haven't arrive at Fuji, Team Studie will have no choice but to pull out. On the other hand, there are some teams with BMW M6 GT3 cars like ARTA will take Team Studie's place. |

So with Acura unveiling the NSX GT3, will it be nice if GT300 teams will field this car and put a hybrid system as the successor to the CR-Z GT300 car? |

Maybe keep it without hybrid and use it for a Type-R case? That's more likely imo.
