All was looking good, till they caused heart failure about 4 times in the last hour, with a sick car in the pits. Repeatedly. Still, Roger seems happy now he's off Rabbit Food and a Beer Free diet! |

A good week end except for missing Iain on Saturday evening, have to agree with JT on the Saturday evening race, a poor substitute for 'Proper Cars' into the night, OK just my opinion....

Its the first year for Italian Car Series and it usually takes at least a year for these series to establish themselves.
Must be mileage in it as someone else is copying format for Ricard in Oct.. Masters seemed to have a lower profile at Festival this year. It will be interesting to see if Nick promotes some of his own races next year without subcontracting the job. |

Somewhat late in the day but it's been a frustrating week since the Classic sorting out a strange problem on a notebook. Probably a Trojan virus that the virus detection system seemed reluctant to discover without assistance.
Must get a V8 Quad bike for next year to get around the circuit ... it's just too difficult to make time to cover the paddock and see much of the racing - so less track action than usual from me this time. |

Race 14 - Historic Formula Junior
The second race for these cars over the weekend, again over 20 minutes, with 44 starters and 41 finishers. The race at the front followed a similar pattern to the first with Jon Milicevic (63 - Coopet T59) taking his customary lead followed by a chasing Michael Hibberd (51 - Lotus 27) and Callum MacLeod (48 - Caravelle Mk2) winding his speed up to pass Hibberd in order to challenge Milicevic. On this occasion, the Caravelle did not retire and MacLeod actually took the lead briefly, but Milicevic was ahead at the flag by just 0.031 secs. Hibberd finished 3rd, 6 seconds behind the leading pair:-

Race 15 - HSCC Roadsports
A 25 minute race in which 48 cars started and 38 finished, so the attrition rate was a bit on the high side at 21%. James Paterson had this race pretty much sewn up from the off in his 'Noddy' Morgan Plus 8 (92) winning by almost
12 seconds from the Porsche 928 (64) of Paul Anderson. The race outcome may have been more in doubt had Justin Murphy got into his stride earlier in his Ginetta G4 (52). He was on the second row but lost a couple of places early on but from then on really flew, posting fastest race lap on lap 10 in his pursuit of Anderson and got within half a second at the end to finish 3rd:- |

It seems every time I see that Jensen Healey it finishes behind a tow truck!! Last Classic the 70's guys had a run it dropped all its oil and I believe it was a DNF this time and sure enough at Combe this weekend it was a DNF again!!! The owner has a high pain threshold!

Simon, it's an MG Midget Lenham, the model described in the programme as an LM.
The Jensen Healey is entered and owned by part the Barter dynasty, driven by Robert, so I suggest they are pretty well versed at sorting cars as we have seen from Charles (240Z) and Julian (TVR), so I imagine this state of affairs won't last. |

240z and TVR I can understand but why a Jensen Healey?!! Heavy and slow (and seemingly unreliable)

Well, they are a bit different, and didn't Ian Jacobs run one quite successfully last season? He's now running the Merc 450SL (see pic @ #593) so probably 'out of the frying pan, into the fire'

Re the Lenham. I always thought they were Healey Sprites. That said I believe Malcolm Beer owns an original Sebring car. It's light green IIRC.
