Article 40.14 states: If the clerk of the course considers conditions are unsuitable for a standing restart the message "NO STANDING RESTART" will be shown on the official messaging system. Once the orange lights on the safety car have been extinguished the first car in line behind the safety car may dictate the pace and, if necessary, fall more than ten car lengths behind it. |

What so depending on whose leading? Good, so it is always going to look like the results are being manipulated! Good look, well done! |

Bernie wants three car teams.
Bernie Ecclestone: "I'm ready for a Formula 1 with eight teams with three cars each. Is it better to have a third Ferrari or a Caterham?" |

I see Bernie is back on his 3 cars per team hobby horse again. Is he not in Germany having a chat in court today?

The Eagle Weslake was better looking! Back in the day when versions of the same car could compete in F1, and compete at Indy too! |

It seems like most of the ideas to come out of the stratagy group have been ill thought out or were totally useless. Most of the ones proposed were chucked out by the F1 commission at last weeks meeting. I think there might have been one or two that were good but the rest....... the less said the better.

It's a sure sign of either desperation, knee jerk decision making or inept planning to start playing with regulations mid season. Safety issues are justified but when ruling bodies start messing with suspension rules halfway through the year they are one of the above or manipulating the championship. The tyre issue last year resulted in a change that advantaged RBR and disadvantaged others. Now we have this. Tyres affected safety but FRICS? |

As Mercedes are reputed to have the best FRICS system I wonder could such a ban have an effect on the competitive order. I suspect RB might also have a good FRICS system as they have a car that has very good aero.

This is an informative article regarding the very likely FRIC ban.

If you thought that the use of titanium skid blocks was broght in to please spectators you might be wrong.
It appears there may be another reason. Some teams run there cars with a large rake angle where the front is very low to the ground which means they need skid blocks. These skid blocks are made from a speical hard wearing material and prevents the underfloor plank being worn away. If there is more than a specified amount of wear then the car will be disqualified. Titanium is a softer metal that will ear away relatively quickly and also produce a shower of sparks. As a result of the change to titanium teams will nolonger be able to run the front of the car so close to the ground thereby reducing their aero performance. Now who are the clever ones? http://plus.autosport.com/premium/fe...358.1403130801 |

Will be interesting to see if anything comes of this:
http://www.pitpass.com/51910/We-Need-To-Listen-To-Luca Can't do any worse than the damage the rule change numptys are doing to F1 at present! Actual flat out racing for 2 hrs would be a good start! |

I've only just read the pitpass article and one thing that stuck out for me was Bernie's resistance to social media. This is a quick fix and quite frankly it's ridiculous they haven't cottoned on already. Watching races (or parts of) on Youtube could really build the youth market audience. The only way I can watch a race that's after 1985 is if I download it illegally, and even then it's reliant on someone not only recording the race but also going to the effort of uploading it in it's entirety and leaving his computer on for others to upload. All the footage belongs to FOM, but what's the point in having all of it if they aren't going to show it again??? (apart from a couple of reruns on Sky)

The FIA thinks simplifying F1 rules is unrealsitic.
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/114978 As for Charlie Whiting's comment, "We are being continually asked to make things clearer, but you can't do that with fewer words unfortunately.", I don't think it has anything to do with fewer words, it's to do with how complex things have become. F1 could do with some simplification. |

Nowadays it is very hard to explain the rules to a casual viewer. Explaining the post-qualifying parc fermé regulation, it exceptions and the tyre regulations alone are very difficult to understand. |
