Finished another couple of model kits, eventhough I seem to have lost the ability to use a paint brush for the fine details!

As I haven't been able to go to ant meetings so far this year due to mainly family commitments I thought I'd spend some of the money I have saved on a couple more models for the collection

Plus I've finished off a couple more kits I've needed to do for a long time (only another 10 to do before I've caught up!)

These are the models I've bought

1977 Richard Lloyd VW Gold GTi (Vanguard)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28372122@N05/5870969850/in/photostream

1995 Derek Warwick Alfa Romeo (not quite right when I got it as it is on a 1994 Minichamps base so the splitter isn't right, I also had to add a proper rear wing as well -still looks OK though)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28372122@N05/5870970496/in/photostream

1995 Gabriele Tarquini Alfa Romeo (same issues as the Warwick car)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28372122@N05/5870971230/in/photostream

1993 Ray Bellm BMW 318i (Rae models - need to replace that auwful seat)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28372122@N05/5870413989/in/photostream/

1994 Jeff Allam Vauxhall Cavalier (Formule kit made by Grand Prix models)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28372122@N05/5870973308/in/photostream/

And the 2 I have made myself

1994 Will Hoy Toyota Carina (Formule kit)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28372122@N05/5870973308/in/photostream/

1994 Patrick Watts Peugeot 405 (Formule kit)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28372122@N05/5870974002/in/photostream/

Hopefully I will get some more kits done in the near future.

To be fair that looks very much like a mock up image, not an actual image of the real model if you compare it to the road Fiesta's in the range.

Looking at images of the actual Datapost Fiestas, Corgi's application of the livery is a bit off- there's too much white around the side windows which makes it look a bit messy- the top blue stripe should follow the window line much more closely
As you say though, it's a pre-production mockup and hopefully they'll have it right by the finished release

The other thing I reckon they might need to tweak from the mockup is the stance- ride height seems too high, it looks like a bit like a rallycar at the moment. Are those wheels slightly too big?

http://www.fiesta-mk1.co.uk/press_re...acing_team.php

Looks promising though- I always thought the Datapost Fiesta was quite a pretty car, it's one of the more compllicated paintjobs of the period, and they look as if they should carry it off pretty well. Nice to see Corgi doing BTCC cars from this period,

....though what are they playing at? We still haven't had a Rover SD1- and they've had the casting to base it on for years- they've only done road and police versions so far though....

I'm sure it'll look better in the final version. Remember the Rouse XR4Ti looked a bit ropey in the pre-production photos, but looks a lot better now it's been released.

I got mine today. I really think Corgi could do a better job on the model than what they produce.

I've got a few of the Colin McRae models and would agree. You get what you pay for I guess, a £20 model.

I got mine today, didn't think it was too bad but I'm not sure if Corgi have got it quite right.

Shouldn't the front grill and around the front lights have a white decals surrounding the ICS decal? All the pictures I've seen have it as white or was this something that happened later in that season and it started off being blue?

Also does anyone know if there were any differences between the 85 and 86 car (eg decals/sponsors)?

You thinking of making an 86 version? Was there not a second car at times in 85/86? In the same colours, but with BT Radiopaging sponsorship.

Only if there was enough of a difference, but all the photos i've seen indicate they were the same livery, so no point really.

Maybe I should buy 2 and then I can say I've got both seasons.

The other 86 car is too much of a difference.

As I've not been able to go to any meetings this year and the weather hasn't been that great I thought I'd continue with the model collection. Another 5 to add to the collection (including 2 winners).

1958 winning Austin A105 Westminster of Jack Sears (converted Lansdown model)

1958 BTCC - 102 - Austin - Sears | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

1985 winning Ford Sierra XR4Ti of Andy Rouse

1985 BTCC - 1 - Ford - Rouse | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

1995 Peugeot 405 of Simon Harrison (Formule kit)

1995 BTCC - 18 - Peugeot - Harrison | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

1998 Vauxhall Vectra of Figueiredo (Converted ONYX)

1998 BTCC - 99 - Vauxhall - Figueiredo | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

2007 Vauxhall Vectra of Tom Chilton (Converted Oxford Diecast)

2007 BTCC - 7 - Vauxhall - Chilton | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

That's it for now, not sure which car to do next.

Sorry to be pedantic but the description is wrong. Figueiredo was a stand-in for John Cleland after his accident at Snetterton, not for Warwick.

Thanks Redshoes

I don't mind pedantic as that's the sort of thing would annoy me!!

I couldn't remember so I assumed it was Warwick, I have now changed it.

Cheers

A small update on the collection

1974 John Lyon Alfa Romeo 2000GTV (Detail Cars)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/28372122@N05/6253263850/

1975 Tony Dron Alfa Romeo 1600GT Junior (Detail cars)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/2837212...n/photostream/

1993 Ian Khan Vauxhall Cavalier (Converted Racing Replicas)

http://www.flickr.com/photos/2837212...n/photostream/

The only problem with the 2 Alfa's is they aren't complete, I assume Detail/Corgi didn't get full approval as they haven't got any of the sponsor decals on. If anyone has any pictures of either car could they send me a copy so I could get the cars completed? Thanks

Yes, I'm sure the white band of the paintjob continued around the front panel and headlights as well- I think it did so all season- first pic link shows the car on it's Oulton debut

http://www.flickr.com/photos/londonitalian/4394399256/
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mendaman/6058868939/

Corgi do have a habit of doing things like that- I've not got so many of the BTCC models, but have bought a lot of their earlier Vaguards motorsport models in the past, and they can be a maddening mix of nice attention to detail and schoolboy errors- sometimes on the same model...

I think there were a few small minor differences in the decals between the '85 and '86 Sierras- the 1986 car didn't have the 'Trimoco' series sponsor's decal on the corners of the rear bumper, and no 'Zytek' decal behind the front wheelarch. Can anyone make out the decal on the rear bumper of the '86 car, that's in place of the Trimoco logo?

Compsarison pics of the 1985 & 86 cars:

1986 (with #32 and 'Istel' race decal above the rear wheelarch from at the Silverstone TT)

The second car appeared a handful of times in 1985- the two GP supports at Silverstone and Brands (both as #15,for Klaus Niedzwiedz and David Sears respectively) plus the TT (#34 for Rex Greenslade/Tony Trimmer/Rouse), always with Radiopaging sponsorship

Don't know about the Astra but the Vecta could be a repainted version of the Oxford diecast red and white.
