Is it time for some Livery Reviews yet? Yep! This part will be Lexus.
#1 DENSO KOBELCO SARD LC500 As the season's defending champion, Team SARD changed their livery for the 2017 car by reducing the amount of red and blue parts on the car. It's always the same look of the livery, but I don't have anything against it. #6 WAKO'S 4CR LC500 When Team LeMans started out their 2016 season with a brand new title sponsor, they went out for a white and blue livery. During the season, they switched on to a full-blue livery, which looked better than their early-season livery. The pink part on the headlights is a nice touch. #19 WedsSport ADVAN LC500 Generally, liveries such as this doesn't disappoint in motorsport. Apparently Team Bandoh made a few facelifts to it, adding yellow stripes extending to the driver nametag side. It's a really nice touch to it. #36 au TOM'S LC500 It's just the same design as they always had since 2008, but this looks better compared to the previous one. They've added more amount of orange to it, extending to the doors and the front. #37 KeePer TOM'S LC500 With rumours that Red Bull might be involved in Japanese motorsport and sponsor the Lexus Team TOM'S, the rumours eventually became true. This is what the livery looks like with Red Bull sponsoring the team, which looks "fusioned" for me. Anyway, the base livery has also been facelifted like the #36 car had, and also it would have been better if the "Red Bull" text outline was ditched and the bull decal outlines being yellow instead, like seen on Red Bull's Formula One cars. #38 ZENT CERUMO LC500 Lexus Team CERUMO changed their livery for this year, ditching the yellow stripes and replacing them with black stripes. It's a two-coloured red livery, which is a major facelift compared to last year. #60 SYNTIUM LM corsa RC-F GT3 Switching from bright white to silver, this looks so much of a Mercedes F1 livery. Looking at the rear wing it's like seeing a Mercedes F1 car but with Richard Mille as the "title sponsor". I don't have much to say about all of the liveries above so they're just "short reviews". |

The new Lexus is really a looker. Hands down the best of the 3 new GT500. My favourite must be the ZENT livery

I like it! Thanks for the new wallpapers. The only Lexus that doesn't look good is the Wakos car, maybe it's the angle on which the pic was taken but it doesn't look as good as the other Lexus. My favourite would be the Au or Zent cars. That Syntium GT3 looks splendid. |

I'm impressed with those liveries, but for the most favorite one, my money goes to #1 Denso Kobelco SARD LC500. It has relatively conservative livery (blue-red combination since 2013), but the sharp livery is perfectly matched with the sharp shape of the car.
Also, I can't wait for #51 JMS P.MU RC F GT3 (LM Corsa) final livery as well. |

I really like the #38 Zent LC. The red makes the lines pop.

Having an all red livery for the ZENT Cerumo car is good and it fits well, but the Red Bull branding on the KeePer TOM'S LC500 doesn't work.
On the other hand, I wonder if the itasha liveries are in decline lately for Japanese motorsports apart from Goodsmile Racing's Hatsune Miku SLS? |

And I'd count Rn-Sports/EVA Racing and Team Mach as itasha liveries as well. Giant mechs* are anime too. So is the Mach 5.
*EVA-01 is a mech...sort of...but that's spoilers for anyone who hasn't watched/read Evangelion. :x |

Next part is Nissan!
#12 CALSONIC IMPUL GT-R I don't know what it looks like on track yet because in pre-season testing, most of the teams don't unveil their livery yet until the first race of the season and use this testing livery. The Calsonic liveries are always the same, but I don't know which one is considered as one of the best. #23 MOTUL AUTECH GT-R The Nismo team always had the same livery design since the introduction of the new GT500 vehicles in 2014. But this year Nismo opted for a livery switch from grey and red to a slightly brand new red and black design, which looks very cool on the sides but empty at the front. #24 Forum Engineering ADVAN GT-R This livery looks very much the same as it did last year. Since D'station left the team as their title sponsor, Forum Engineering returned to the sport as a team's title sponsor since 2007, when they sponsored Team LeMans. #46 S ROAD CRAFTSPORTS GT-R Still the same livery design since 2014, but still memorable as the 2011 and 2012 S Road MOLA liveries. These "confetti" graphics look so cool on the livery, but elsewhere on it is just what we always see from a MOLA Racing livery. BONUS - #3 B-MAX NDDP GT-R Last year NDDP Racing had a livery very similar to the Motul Autech GT-R, but now they've changed it, going for something very different - a fading stripe livery. I think it's also similar to the 2017 variant of the Motul GT-R. Next part is Honda, and maybe a few GT300 cars before the season starts! |

The NDDP car is the same scheme as the GT500 car, just with a white base.

According to jp.motorsport.com,
Honda had examine FR layout for NSX-GT after removing hybrid system. There was a room for NRE in front of the NSX-GT. However, it doesn't link to the Honda's business. So Honda maintained MR layout. Masashi Yamamoto accepts that it was a bad decision for removing hybrid system. He feels sorry that Honda drivers can't compete in the equal condition. https://jp.motorsport.com/supergt/ne...B2-884536/?s=1 Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 23 Mar 2017 at 07:02. |

There is no such restriction in GT500 tech regulations.
Sorry. There is a restriction in 5.1.2). 5.1.2) Position of engine Engine must be positioned in the car in the installation position of the original vehicle with longitudinal orientation. However, Yamamoto san says that Bandoh san also hopes Honda to change the engine layout. Last edited by Japanese Samurai; 23 Mar 2017 at 13:04. |

Tough to say for sure, but if I'm in the Honda camp, and I'm looking at how competitive Real Racing, ARTA, and Team Kunimitsu were in the last test, I have to be feeling better about the NSX-GT's competitive prospects in 2017, mid-engined or not.

Compared to last year's pre season test at Okayama, now Honda squad performing better so far. Let's see the next test at Fuji and upcoming races.

I bet the NSX sees replacement very soon if it does not win. I wouldn't mind seeing an S2000 replacement instead.

That would be odd from a marketing perspective, especially if a GT3 NSX makes its way into GT300 at some point..."in the lower class, heres our flagship halo mid-engined supercar...and in the higher class, heres our more affordabble convertible sportscar"...i know connection to the road car is non-existant in GT500, and a bit loose in GT3, but still...

Honda time.
#8 ARTA NSX-GT Autobacs Racing Team Aguri didn't change their livery since 2013, but they are doing a little facelift to it, expecially at the rear side of the car. Last year the rear side looked like this, but this year the black parts are increased to the livery. #16 MOTUL MUGEN NSX-GT Some of you think this reminds you of a BAR F1 livery, some of you thinks of that Super Formula Team Mugen livery...but this one is a Mugen Motul livery that dates back to 1987, when this Honda Civic Si had that livery 30 years ago. I have no idea what that eye decal is in the livery, if you know what it probably is then let me know. Otherwisely, the livery looks very good, and we haven't seen that in Super GT before. #17 KEIHIN NSX-GT I like how the chrome silver reflects on the track. It's always the team's traditional livery you see every season. #64 Epson Modulo NSX-GT "Epson Modulo" now? This year the team picked out the winner of the 2017 livery contest to be used as the team's livery. It's cool to have a tribal design livery in motorsports such as this. #100 RAYBRIG NSX-GT Dubbed as the "Phase 01" livery, Team Kunimitsu have gone black, grey and light blue for the testing. It's until the first race of the season that they will unveil their real livery, so could it be the same livery as last year? A few GT300 liveries to be reviewed soon. |

The first session of testing at Fuji Speedway is starting in a few minutes from the time of this post. Saturday's two sessions have been extended by 20 minutes (AM session) and 40 minutes (PM) due to threats of snow on Sunday.
supergtworld and POTENZA_SUPERGT on Twitter will have live updates. |
