I was honestly expecting S Road to dominate, but it appears DENSO is doing that! Although it looks like both S Road and MOTUL GTR are catching them for the lead.

Can that DP race in the Grand-Am Series?

Motul GT-R back in the lead. Now I want S Road GT-R to get in 2nd, in front of the Denso SC340. Very tight points race.

Great win by the Motul GT-R. The S Road GT-R finish 2nd. A good day in the points for them. GT-R 1,2 finish

My first Super GT race LIVE. And it was an epic one.

Long day of racing...

Oh dear. What a dreadful race for the HSV camp. Tire problems or what? I suppose the fact this is the first time HSV runs on this track didn't help their case.

Fantastic result for the GTR's. Now only nº23 has a chance to steal the title from S-Road in the final race but it will be difficult. S-Road should have this in the bag.

Exactly, you never know. That's why you don't want to put all your eggs in one basket (as Honda is doing). Thanks for proving my point!

Nissan and Toyota have a cleverer strategy. They cover all their bases. On a day when a tyre from a particular brand struggles for performance it means they still have a chance to win because they have other cars on different tyre brands. We see this happen regularly. It's very important, especially since the races are frequently affected by the weather over there in Japan. And in a championship battle with only 8 races (sometimes even less) it gives no room for errors, as you don't have sufficient time to recover as in other series with 15-20 races like F1 etc. It's massively important.

Take this year as an example. Nissan wouldn't likely have 2 cars/teams in contention at the end (nobody can take the title from their hands now, in fact) if they had only Bridgestones for ex. the michelins on the S-Road nº46 helped them start almost every race from the front or near the front.

*About GT500 regulations after 2012
The fundamental stance of the present series does not change till 2013.
"Driver change and Refuel" race style will not change after 2014.
Introduction of common parts, common standard, etc. are considered about a technical regulations in 2014. Exchange with overseas series is taken into consideration in it. (Current regulation till 2013???)
*Tie-up with DTM
New DTM vehicle can participate in GT500 class by BOP till 2013.
GTA consider exchange with overseas about future SGT. It is a stance that SGT will not become Galapagos series.
*2012 problem of GT300 class
Adjustment of plus-or-minus 10% of BOP is carried out to FIA-GT3 car.
(1) Weight, (2)minimum ground clearance, and (3) restrictor are used for the method.
*2012 GT500 class
Speed adjustment of GT500 car in 2012 is still under examination.
Revival of canard wings, expansion of restrictor size, etc. are considered.

*By the violation of yellow flag in free practice, Weider (#1) became the start from 10th grid.
*Road surface condition changed in the qualifying and the race. It became very low temperture.
Super lap group of GT500 (=BS users) have a rapid grip down trouble.
There is a regulation that Super lap teams must be started with tires used in the Super lap.
NISMO(#23) seem to choose the most suitable tires.
It seems that the sweet spot of BS tires is very narrow.
*ZENT Cerumo choosed the 2 pit stops strategy.
*The cause of SARD(#38)'s trouble is not clear yet.

Looks like the S-Mola team has this sown up, all they need is 4th @ Motegi to seal the championship (provided Nismo GT-R wins that is)

So Audi, Mercedes and BMW could run in SGT, but with a BoP to the SGT-spec cars. On the other hand, I can understand SuperGT in that they don't want the DTM regulations being "forced" upon them. But unified regulations are better than BoP in my opinion, because it would be rather easy for GTA to restrict the DTM cars to a level, in which they won't be able to beat the Japanese SGT cars. Maybe DTM should built an own Asian series, kinda like GP2 Asia, if they are so keen to run in Asia.

Didnt Mercedes make an alliance with Nissan? On the automotive side of things? Thought I was reading something about that a few months ago...

indeed!

Great to see R&D Sport win in GT300. And Mola keep rolling on towards the championship, I really hope they win, that livery is one of my favourites.
