Porsche were not benefited by the rain. If you go back you will see that they only caught and beat Audi in the dry. Porsche Achilles heel is the heat.

It was much hotter at Nurb(32ºC air temp, IIRC) and also at COTA.
Here, it's: Air t° : 22.9°C, Track t° : 27.2°C If Porsche had better pace on dry, why were the Fuji's and Shanghai's fastest laps of the race done by the Audis? |

wow, you seriously wanna reduce performance to being dependent on a single variable (not like naively dozens, realistically hundreds?)
Tarmac's different. Weather consists of more than temperature. Etc... |

Porsche was, as typically, 1s faster in qualifying pace here and, as happened in Fuji and Shanghai, had slower fastest laps on the race. There is a pattern, that's all I'm saying.
Maybe, just maybe, Audi could have won in a totally dry Fuji/Shanghai 6h |

Porsche's slower race pace has to do with tire wear, something it does not have to worry about in qualifying.

And the car hosted the 2015 driver champion as well, grats for that.
Let's hope they do more of races like today, and less of this (AMS, german, "porsche press police"). |

The team to beat in 2015, in LMP and GT.
Nothing but congratulations for a thoroughly good job. |

They had to earn it for all their problems, but they were the single dominant team this season. Mark finally get's a major world title, Brendan is the young hot shoe come great, and Timo is the stalwart veteran at Porsche. Thoroughly deserving winners

You're being overly defensive. My comment was to say that Toyota and Nissan see what more funds and 8mj gets you, as in the case of Porsche's performance. Thats where they could be. Im not detracting anything from what they've done. Its not impossible to be where Porsche is at, but you need the development and skillset and a good amount of money to get there.

Fully deserved tittles for Porsche. Definitely the most competent team of the year!
Hope they don't drop the ball. Audi and, possibly, Toyota will be very strong next year and it would be better for the championship if Porsche keeps as a real contender rather than being what Toyota was this year, a non-entity |

Congratulations Porsche. They have created what is probably the technologically most advanced racing car ever. Gaining roughly five seconds over a year is no small feat. And the drivers did a superb job as well.
Porsche thoroughly deserved this success, but as a neutral fan, I hope Audi, Toyota and Nissan can catch up for next year, so that we get the remarkable battles of the early season once again next year. |

He was most likely over driving it in the first session. It's a respectable time.

Aside from Porsche's willingness of course, it looks like the only thing stopping JPM from doing Le Mans is the test day Indycar conflict.
I bet the ACO is tempted to make some sort of exemption here, especially looking at how much press his test got. Having him on the grid in June would be absolutely huge. |

The Test Day exemption already exists. Platinum drivers can skip it if they do 5 "rookie" laps in Wednesday practice and the mandatory sim course. Kevin Estre raced under this exemption this year.

Does JPM even have a FIA drivers rating?

Don't know if he officially has one, but with his credentials he'll immediately be classified as Platinum if he applies for one in the next 10 years.
EDIT: The Indycar drivers of recent years I can find in the list are Bourdais, Briscoe, Dixon, Hunter-Reay, Kanaan, Pagenaud, Sato, Servia and Vautier. All of them are Platinum. Last edited by Victor_RO; 22 Nov 2015 at 14:00. |

I don't think we should read anything into that. Those two are just very good friends and we know ALO has a desire to try out Le Mans in a P1 car but is tied up in F1 contracts.
