Anyone think that this may race? It's supposed to test at the end of the month and one may run at the LM test day. If it doesn't take too much away from their LM program, it may race in my view, but I wouldn't bet my mortgage on it.
Audi have designed the R18 for a KERS hybrid system, but it seems that they won't race it this year. But then again, Peugeot have tested their KERS already and will have a car on tracks soon, and they said that racing a car with KERS was unlikely last month. |

Because hybrids can now score points and the technology is at a level that could provide a clear performance/efficiency advantage.

My bet: they run the 908 Hybrid4 after Le Mans race IF they succeed with the "normal 908" at Sebring, Spa, and of course Le Mans

Daygs has his piece up on Speed, and he says that the hybrid is unlikely to race in anger in 2011, but may be ready for 2012.
That goes lock step with the fact that Peugeot said that it was unlikely a hybrid version of the 908 will race this year, though it was designed with that capablitly for the future. Of course, the PR didn't say anything about whether or not they'd be testing the car with KERS this year. |

For production cars of the PSA group the designation is used for 4WD hybrid cars, in which a HDi engine powers front wheels and an electric motor the rear wheels. See http://www.psa-peugeot-citroen.com/e...er_hybrid4.php
Hence my comment that the term is misleading. |

Would be nice to see one kicking around in the Le Mans paddock in June or running a few demo laps just to get an early glimpse for the guys not lucky enough to be at test day.
Have to agree the livery looks great. |

The only reason I can imagine why the PR people chose this name, is the fact that the production HYbrid4 cars use a HDi engine.

That... Is... Beautiful!
I'm a BIG fan of black and white. With the little added blue to the mirros and other parts of the bodywork, it looks the business. I hope all goes well with it, and they keep the livery! |

General 908 point: We now know the actual tire width for the 908 and R18 thanks to...Aston Martin Racing (of all people)! Front tire diminsion is 36/71cmx18 inches.

Strange because the official Peugeot Sport says
Quote:
AV = avant = front and AR = arrière = rear |

Could the Pugs have their own version of the wide fronts?
This seems to clash with Pruett's prediction that the "wide fronts" would be mounted on the same width rims on all four corners, but that the front tires' tread width would be about .5-.75 of an inch less than the rear. |

AMR is claiming that their tires are 36/71 vs the Pug's 37/71
Either AMR or Peugeot have different tires (which is unlikely unless one of the other shelled out the cash), or one of their people typing the PR's messed up. Only other option is if Peugeot is running the rears on the front, which isn't likely either due to construction differences. Or could the measurement lie between the two figures or are AMR and Peugeot just throwing numbers on their front tires? I can't see Michelin making two different tires if the difference in tread patch is +/- 1cm. Last edited by chernaudi; 2 Mar 2011 at 17:13. |

I've read on a german site that Peugeot does not use air conditioning on the new 908 (unlike on the old 908 HDi) and that the temperature inside the car can be kept under the limit imposed without air conditioning.
How do they do that? Is that the same for Audi? |
